How to Draw a Cube in Two Point Perspective

In this video I demonstrate how to draw cubes in two point perspective. The goal of the video is to show the basic methods constructing cubes in two point perspective. Later on we will withdraw from drawing vanishing point and will move on to projecting them instead. Hope you found this video usefull.

As a side note its good to practise straight lines as later we will stop using extra tools as well ;)

Perspective uses geometry so that you don't need to guess. By guessing the side lengths, you destroyed the purpose of perspective. Great video, but it does not describe how to make a cube, only a rectangle.

I like how u got right to the point I hate how people do like 10 minute videos on how to draw a box when urs is 1 minute 👏👏

Ignore the haters! This is a really good, quick explanation of how to estimate a cube freehand that explains why the lengths of the x and z axis differ.

this is more of an intuitive perspective than a technical perspective you can build a cube using cone of vision and station point also you can do it using the ellipse method

design sketching isnt about precision, its about what looks right. The purpose is to sketch concepts that look right to the eye.

this is the best video I found yet, thank you for sharing this method.

An incorrect initial depth measurement can mess up an entire piece (if you use that first depth as a scale)
I can guarantee you that if you map out the dimensions to be equal, the cube most definitely "look right"
Doing that sort of thing by eye is a pointless potential source of error

I realize that I'm being an asshole, but I was trying to figure out how to calculate the depth, and this video didn't help at all

Just what do you all not understand in "The goal of the video is to show the BASIC METHODS constructing cubes in two point perspective." ? Reading your comments saying it's not precise enough is like a big joke.

Nah dont worry. Our goals are different, in design sketching measuring everything is waste of time as sketches my hand are meant to communicate a concept and all the precise work is done digitally :).

That's not a cube, that's a cube-wannabe. Bad vid.

Middle point should be lower to right.

At 0:40 you say "somewhere around...". Come on... There is a way to put the point exactly where it should be.

Did you know, and as artists, I hope you can relate to this, that the neuro tests make the elderly with no art or interest in art draw a cube with no instruction or a reference. Betty Edwards says people cannot draw cubes without instruction. I'm almost finished with my graphic memoir of how I used my health and fitness knowledge to stop my mother with mild dementia from forgetting me, and it worked. I tricked her off caffeine, then no prescription meds, forced her/tricked her/incentivized her to drink water, kept her away from high fructose corn syrup and other poison, because they made her mean and delusional, and kept her away from gluten. I'm always curious to know what artists think of this fact? My book is about how the right hand is not talking to the left hand with many aspects of our health, and people should use art to help with their caregiving.

there are billions tutorials showing how to draw cube in perspective, but very few show how to draw complex over blocking surfaces inside cube, like a car engine.

Hi
I am having problems drawing still lifes in perspective. Its the making of the first marks to get things looking right. Would love if you could do a tutorial on that. Thanks a mil.
