Buying a Used Car Review! Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (120) '2002–09 common problems, issues, defects and complaints

From Perth, Australia. Onto our 2nd 120 Prado and swear by them plus my wife loves driving it. We had a white 2004 V6 petrol 5sp GXL manual for some 8yrs and only swapped that in 2019 for 2007 V6 petrol GXL 5sp auto because my wife wanted an auto. We did many mods to the black one (complete headlight swap to binnacle LED & complete tailight swap to LED).
Installed a Harrop eletronic rear diff locker. upgraded suspension components with 2 inch lift kit. (multiple sets of wheels/tires to swap in depending on the venture being undertaken) Upgraded sound unit to modern Clarion touch screen with GPS maps & modern speakers of high quality . Swapped factory headers to short tube extractors & custom S/Steel free flowing exhaust of larger diameter. Slide out camping draws in the rear cargo bay. Drop-down table on inside of rear cargo door. Gas strut to rear cargo door. Big red LED spotlights for night driving on country roads. RedArk BCDC Dual battery system. RedArk tow system for electric brakes on trailer/caravan being towed. All underneath chassis checked & treated to avoid any future rust. All doors/ rear tailgate, chassis rails checked & treated to avoid any future rust. Many other aftermarket mods
These 4wd's are awesome cars for highway cruising, city traffic or offroad trails or beach work in sand. And still great cars for wife to drive at busy shopping centres as tight turning circle.
One of the main features by loyal owners is they are a very comfortable cabin with great vision and light steering despite being a very capable 4wd off-road and factory they come with 2 x 90litre tanks = total 180 litre fuel capacity for those long trips. Ours has now done 250, 000kms and going strong without missing a beat which comes down making sure you do your regular maintenance to keep them in top condition

Have 2006 3.0 d4d, we bought it brand new, now has 160.000 km and it's still a beast! The best suv ever

Excellent machine! Mine is 2009 V6 petrol, strongly going and crossed 285000 Kms!!

Mine is a 2005 V6 4.0 Petrol.... It's an absolute beast! Almost have a mileage of 250000km and still running smoothly without issues!
Love this car... trying to find a Die-cast 1:18 model of it.

Didn't quite hear your thoughts on the 5vz petrol 3400. Is it advisable to install a supercharger at 400, 000+km on the odo?

I don't get it. Land Cruiser is considered one of the most reliable vehicles ever made, yet according to this video there's about a million things that can go wrong. Also most of the second hand are diesels which according to this video are the least reliable? Something doesn't add up here.
