IVF has not been made illegal in Alabama. The Alabama Supreme Court has merely demanded a respect for human life, similar to when laws were taken off the books that required oven cleaner to be put in bunnies eyes to see if it injured them. It simply demand that people not do stupid and unnecessary things that endanger human life, for the benefit of those with no human values, which unfortunately constitutes a significant portion of our medical community. It will make IVF treatments more expensive, like when cars having seatbelts was mandated because it would save lives.

The hair on fire reactions to fodder for discussion by cost accountants is laughable. We are talking about IVF taking longer and being more expensive. I appreciate that people feel it is already expensive enough. If that is your position make less money. That would absorb some, if not all of the expense. Work for free if it is necessary to save a life.

As far as news reports go, report what the flurry is about. Costs.

In an episode of House, a patient said his arm had starting after he slept on it. House said don't sleep on it. The man replied that he had always slept on it. House started to talk about amputation of the hurting arm. The man was flabbergasted that such an extreme remedy would be contemplated. What he seemed unaware of is that he had been adamant that he not change the way he had always done sleep. The medical community is the same way with IVF. They need to change their procedures so that embryos are not discarded.
