NEVER TOO SMALL: Colourful, Open Plan Apartment, Seville 58qm/624sqft

Inspired by the vibrant colours of the historic district of Triana in Seville, architect and design studio Studio Noju incorporated striking shades of colour and unique textures to zone out this open-plan apartment. Each space is distinguished by a bright, monochrome shade and decorated with low-cost aluminium roof ridge panels known as Cumbreras. A bright blue curtain wraps around the living room, separating it from the combined kitchen and dining space. The recessed kitchen is clad top-to-bottom in a vibrant lime green, with two hidden pantries on either side concealing large appliances. The dining area, bathed in a buttercup yellow, boasts a custom dining table that can be pushed into a niche to double as a study desk. Embracing more neutral tones, the bedroom and bathroom use pale white and charcoal grey, with the exception of a canary-yellow walk-in closet concealed with white curtains.

The contrast of the curves and zig zags, the colour blocking and neutrals, is all so thoughtful and visually pleasing. That said, I can't get over the beauty of that original exterior door.

I know that this channel has been moving more and more away from small apartments and the like, but I fail to understand how renovating a 3 bedroom apartment into a 1 bedroom apartment has to do with the ethos of renovating apartments in cities to make them more functional increasing density instead of tearing down and building new apartments (which I thought the old initial videos were about).

The tipped over pottery on the floor looks like something my cat would do. All this time I had not been recognizing his sophisticated design aesthetic.

I like the idea of the colorful alcoves, but I can’t get over how clinical it all feels… but that’s also what i love about interior design. Different people with different styles and preferences.

It looks beautiful, we can't deny it, but it doesn't seem like a very comfortable apartment to live in, especially the kitchen and fridge.

I really like the use of color in this apartment. It gives it so much more life and energy than the usual all white spaces often shown on this channel. It's a very elegant apartment.

For practicality I would have just use the 2nd bedroom as the wardrobe + storage + guest room instead of the curtain in the living room.

There are some lamentable choices made here: why turn a three bedroom into a one bedroom apartment full of wasted space? Why would you need privacy in the lounge (using a fussy mechanism like the blue curtain) in a one-bedroom apartment where at the most a couple would live? The dining area is big enough for a living space for a two bedroom apartment. The bookcases don't look less cluttered. The pops of colour are interesting -- although the curtain behind the mini bar looks like an alcove in funeral home.

There are a lot of very nice architectural touches in this home. I particularly like the staggered bookcase. Also the 'pockets' of colour, which don't shout at you, but are discoverable.

I love the pleated blue curtain, it's just like living in a hospital ! The bedroom headboard is pure 80's. Unusual and fun ! (Someone should pick-up that terracotta urn that has fallen over in the living room too).

This is beautiful and modern, quite impractical if you think of the details. The curtains are not very functionalnor useful, the zigzag in the kitchen is going to be very hard to clean, none of the doors have a handle and a lot of important appliances are hidden in rooms in the kitchen

The playful and beautiful design is one thing, but the way they incorporated so much invisible storage and two pantries is so thoughtful and functional! The flexibility of the dining space is also impressive. I can imagine moving the table to the side and having lots of room for daily exercise. It's a wonderful apartment.

This is something else, design wise. I am surprised by how much I like how colours were used for each area. The carpet with the gradient colours is beautiful!
I'd probably trip over that terracota jug on the carpet.
Though probably practical, shifting those curtains all the time would be annoying to me.
I especially like the side areas of the kitchen, pantry and laundry. Well thought out.

Not a big fan. It feels to sterile for me, but most of all: for a single person, this is a very comfortably sized apartment - it almost has loft-vibes. I don't get why they didn't keep at least one extra bedroom, so the apartment could adapt to a changing family situation or even have a guest staying over for more than a night. Plus, that is a tiny kitchen for such an apartment with so much living space... It's a miss for me

I am in awe of the space. 58 square meters is a lot for a one-bedroom apartment. I love it she used egg yoke yellow to brighten up the palet. The colours are used beautifully. The zigzags are not my thing, especially since cleaning seems hard. I am so happy they weren't allowed to change the outside of the door. It is stunning.

I live in London and this flat is far from being small compare to the ones here. Could you post more tiny studio flats please ?

That zigzag back splash in the kitchen would be a nightmare to keep clean.

Color blocking each area to section off the home is such a good idea! The blue curtain that closes off the living room that then becomes a backdrop to the display area is absolutely beautiful! I've never seen something like that before.

I adore the colors, but the zigzag kitchen and bathroom backsplash seem just incredibly impractical, when it comes to cleaning.
