Review | RIDE 4

Legendary Italian studio Milestone, starting from the legendary Screamer Rally series and delighting us with several licensed WRC and MotoGP titles, on top of working on dozens of titles with machines on wheels in general. While many would argue their days of glory are long gone, even at their worst they usually offered solid racing games on 2 or 4 wheels. The RIDE franchise is no exception: an all-around bike racing franchise offering a vast selection of styles from closed tracks, urban and country-side racing alike. We reach the fourth chapter, a cross-generation one no less. Will Milestone’s new racer… ahem… ride to success?

AI is one of the most under-rated and under-baked aspects of racing games. Disappointed to see the AI in this one is so frustrating to play against. Great review though!

I have been playing Ride 4 since it released last night on the XboxOneX and having played all the Ride series and MotoGP 17 to 19, completed all of them fully to the end in career modes I can honestly say Ride 4 is literally the worst amongst all previous titles no matter what others may say.

It is said that the AI is improved but hell no, if not even worse, the AI will just make you fall whether they are behind or infront of you, a small touch and you are gone. No improvements over the previous titles besides loading times, tire wear, fuel and variable changing weather mechanics. The given racing line is a joke as previous titles so never use it as usual. Riding style customization is gone with only 2 options given, so no more custom Rossi style animations. You still have the same halfway limited unrealistic arcade wheelies but better stoppies. Tracks, bikes are all the same if not even less, supermoto tracks are now removed.. BGM sucks as usual. Grinding cash for unlocking big bikes in early gameplay by only doing chill/relaxed time trial runs is no longer an option since it gives you little to nothing compared to the insanely very expensive bike prices. Gearbox, chain and suspension upgrades no longer change your stats or increase your Performance Index Points..

I am literally done giving Milestone hard earned cash for good. If you haven't played these games or so called sims before and willing to give it a try, save some bucks and get ride 2 or 3 since they are much better than this crap.

Long story short there is no reason at all to buy this game for a sane person if you own any of previous Ride titles or have even never owned. It's literally crap💩

They should've gone the Forza Horizon route with Ride 4 but instead they redid all the 3d models and audio while neglecting to noticeably improve the gameplay. Disappointing but if you followed their video updates the warning signs were there.

@4:47 The first game had split-screen mode as a requirement to achieve 100%, which means if you have nobody to play with you cannot complete the game. The multiplayer mode solved this problem.

Milestone promise to keep the AI under control & keep the bikes in check, but just like ea games, they lied. Milestone will never be the same again.

I have Ride 3 and this looks very similar. Waiting for Series X version for better fps, graphics.

It's a vast improvement over ride 3 but the AI needs tweeking. They can easily patch that and it has a free series x update so that's even better.
