I forgot to mention that hosiery elastics are also great for higher ponytails & buns! They secure more tightly than a floppy scrunchie but still let you keep it relatively loose so it doesn’t pull 😊

I can't comprehend how scrunchies hold anyone's hair. I have never successfully had one stay in my hair for more than 10 minutes

I don't know if this happens to anyone else, but I swear sometimes when I get headaches that it's related to my hair being pulled back too tight. Definitely going to purchase the hair ties that you recommended!

I'm lucky that since I was a child tight hairstyles have given me headaches, so I never wore them. I love these soft style options, thanks Abbey!

I’ve been using French pins for my buns. They don’t leave a crease in my hair, and they feel more gentle than a scrunchie, plus less turns and loops in the hair.

I don't really get why braids encourage breakage? POC use braids as a protective style all of the time. As long as it's not super tight it's fine. It protects your ends and is a low manipulation style as once it's done you can keep it in for a few days & don't have to manipulate it again.

Something that completely changed the game for my hair is a silk turban from Slip. It's expensive, but it has been a life changing addition to my night time hair routine. I used to sleep in satin bonnets and didn't think silk was really worth it. And if satin is all you can get, definitely get it. It's better to have a satin one than nothing at all. It will still help reduce friction, breakage, and frizz. But since I've gotten the silk one, I will never go back. I sleep in it every night and I have seen dramatic benefits from it. My hair is softer, smoother, and stronger, with almost no frizz. I can't believe one product made such a huge difference, but it truly has! I also got some silk scrunchies from them and I especially love the skinny scrunchies. Super gentle, but they're a lot less bulky than regular scrunchies.

All my years of dance and high ponytails growing up has totally messed up my hairline. It wasn’t until 3-4 years later that it’s now finally starting to regrow 😩

For those tiny clear elastics, you can use lemon essential oil so break them and then you can gently remove. They also have this little hook tool that you can cut them with. I use both methods when I put them in my daughter's hair and I'm able to remove them with no hair breakage.

I’m glad you included tips for those of us who want can’t deal with wearing our hair down at night. I am approaching the beginning of menopause and get crazy sweaty at night, so if I wear my hair down, , I just wake up with it absolutely soaked with sweat. Not ideal!

I have hair that’s almost past my ass and it’s very healthy
My hairdresser said braids are not damaging (especially if you aren’t making SUPER tight braids) and I wear lots of pony’s and messy buns but I never pull my hair tight and I’m very clearly to remove everything and use detangling products and comb right
I always braid before bed and when it comes to hair not everyone’s is that same so I would talk to a professional and ask them what would work for your hair and what doesnt

Abbey, would you please do a video on workout hair styles for people with long, dense hair? My hair annoys me so much when I’m working out and I have a sensitive scalp. So hard to keep my hair out of the way gently when I’m doing HIIT

The receding hairline is absolutely true. Gave myself a break from styling 5-6 months ago + started caring for my scalp's hydration and I've seen tremendous results!

So glad I found your channel! Would you consider doing a video on healthcare/shift work hacks? Oily skin plus 12+ hr shifts in ICU and I look like a whole mess by the end of my shift both my hair AND makeup! 😂

I love braids. The most natural way to make curls or waves. No hot styling tools. I recommend to get some silk or satin crunchies even they would be tight ones. Best materials for hair

Extremely fine hair nets have been a game changer for me. I can use all the loose styles without them falling down because the hair net keeps everything together without requiring tight bindings.

I often use a hosiery elastic as you mentioned to make a very loose ponytail and then carefully pull the hair into a hairnet making sure to keep all of the strands smooth (no tangles). Once my pony is in the net I can gently loop it up over the hosiery elastic and hold it in place with a gentle clip, open pins, or even a hair chopstick (traditional hanfu style ornaments are my favorite).

This works wonders. My hair has never been so happy. When all the strands are carefully protected in the invisible net they don’t suffer from tangling or activity based friction and my hair slides right out super shiny and silky smooth.

Sometimes I even use a silk jumbo hair tie then carefully wrap my hair around it before covering with a hairnet to create silky waves.

Those invisible hairnets are underrated! I can now create the most elegant styles without causing any kinks, stress, or binding on the strands or roots. Total blessing because I can’t stand the hair sitting on my neck, as you mentioned. 😅

SILK CAPS!!! I can’t stand my hair in ANY style sleeping but with a cap it’s so comfy and my hair has zero frizz after.

I’m guilty of the night bun but I cannot stand hair on my neck .. also the styles you wear are too heavy for my head so I do those “not quite pulled all the way through” ponies. Great quality hair care and a silk cap suits me the best :)
