Russia being outraged about Finland and Sweden joining NATO is like a burglar being outraged about house owner fitting their houses with burglar alarms.

Countries: *Want to join NATO due to Russia involving itself with other country's sovereignty*

Russia's response: *Tries to interfere in other country's sovereignty*

Brilliant.

Honestly, you have to love Russia
Finland: maybe we should join NATO
Russia: guess we better demonstrate how vulnerable you are to us, currently non-aligned nation
Finland: ok now we really want to join NATO
Russia: [confused noises]

When Russia mentioned they might station missiles and nukes in Kalingrad as a response, the Baltic and Nordic states smirked and shook their head. They claim Russia already has these weapons stationed in Kalingrad and that they've been there for quite some time.

This whole invasion backfired beautifully

As we know threatening a country to not join a defensive alliance, is a very good idea 😂

A few notes from a Finn:
-military spending is over 2 after recent F-35 program
-war time fast deployed military 280 000 men and reserve 900 000
-Aircraft in picture is Bae hawk, which is a training jet. Main jets are Hornets and soon F-35

Both Sweden and Finland had NATO doors open for them for decades at this point. With how close the cooperation between the 3 have been they have practically already been NATO members in all but name. Whatever issues any other country may have with these two joining the alliance, I have no doubts they will get resolved hastily and the both countries can be officially welcomed to the alliance!

‘We are considering joining NATO because russia seems somewhat aggressive’
Russia: ‘Don’t you dare join NATO or else…
Point made.

Russia actively antagonising and invading its neighbours.
Said neighbours enter a defensive alliance.
Russia: stop antagonising us!

Croatian president doesn't actually have the power to decide who Croatia lets in so I don't think Croatia will stop Sweden and Finland from joining

Putin: "See!? NATO IS EXPANDING!"

Sweden and Finland: "Yeah... because of what YOU did."

Don't do it NATO! Sweden and Finland are like those two hot blonde chicks who were too good for you in HS but now that they're getting older and have a crazy ex stalking them they need you for protection! Don't be a simp man!
Jokes aside, as a Swede I honestly hope we both get to join

What did Vladimir Putin and Russia expect by violating my country of Sweden''s airspace and economical zones, openly talking about taking Gotland on russian state media and also threating us?

These thing Russia did just made us want to join Nato more.

If Russia is going to open a second western front, Japan should just go ahead and take the russian occupied Kuril islands.

Finland, Sweden and the UK signed a mutual defence alliance on may 11th - in practice that means the involvement of the Joint Expeditionary Force which includes 10 Northern European countries (including Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Netherlands, UK...). This was set up in 2014 (when Russia invaded Ukraine Crimea) to provide a rapid reaction that wasn't tied to all the countries in NATO. And Finland and Sweden adopted NATO interoperability standards some time ago and take part in NATO exercises.

Noticed an error, while the defence spending of sweden was correctly shown as 1, 3% it's stated to be 13% by the narrator.

I think NATO should be reformed into a global alliance - to add New Zealand, Australia, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan into a new alliance

Denmark and Norway already work together with Sweden and I possibly Finland in various military matters, for example a uniform program was made to standardized across these Nordic countries and their membership into NATO would make stuff like this even easier. Granted my own country of Denmark's armed forces have been degraded to an insane degree due to policies made by ministers who don't even know the difference between an IFV and a Tank and no, I'm not making that up, this was an actual thing that happened.
