I think one of the most important stoic tenets to hold to is that you cannot control what others say to you, only how you respond. And what I have found is that the highest form of response is a lack of one entirely. Whether emotional, or mental. To simply see the things that people say as reflections of themselves and not of you. Because if you were to break them down, you will find that they all share a common denominator - that all hatred lacks sound reasoning and is a reaction of perceived threat. Hatred is really irrational fear. And fear should always be met with compassion, and therein a lack of response.
