This can be an indication to check trichomes but not a sign of readiness. If you dont look at trich colors then you're taking a gamble

Can't rely on the pistol color for readiness. As others have said...better to look at the trichomes...20% amber for sativas and about 50% amber for indicas.

I look for Cloudy to Amber Trichomes.
Clear ones mean some time is left.
Looking at the Hairs are a good way to tell if you have no means of seeing the Trichomes magnified.

You have to inspect the trichomes
Clear is too early
Milky is somewhat peak
Amber means sedative

I usually harvest when most are milky and some are amber

Trichs are your best bet, harvest at 25% amber, I’m in coastal Canada so I’m lucky if they even get to 25% before I have to pull them to prevent rot from taking it all

Many strains regrow pistols as it keeps blooming, cant rely on that.
Use a magnifier and keep the eye on those tricomes.

I usually rely on the a jewelers glass to check the condition of the trichomes

If you want more females from seed hatch your eggs end of May, early June I live in a coastal area, I also have a problem with bud rot and will monitor daily from mid-October until the kill frost 26-28 degrees, usually within the 1st 2 weeks of November by this time your clones should be going indoors and ready for an April 1st harvest with drying/curing is ready July 1st! Outdoor crop is ready for Christmas, New Years eve! Happy consumption! By the way, I have a two-month waiting period from clipped, to dry & cured time for my ladies! It is amazing how drying & curing can affect your final product! Last growth is the best growth!

El momento ideal no es cuando los pistilos estén marrones, hay que observar el color de los tricomas y su forma

Those pistils can ripen way before the bud is actually ready to be harvested. I see people give too much light and humidity to pretty much anything purple and just stress out the last weeks ruining the overworked buds. They'll crack a nug open and see a brown ring around the center all the time

Get Jewelers Loop and look at the trichomes. Mostly cloudy to amber is ready for harvest. One creates a heady high the other is more body high.

I think that many people harvest their plants too soon, but it can depend on the desired effects, and what your final product is.

There are a few strains that cannot be judged be the pistils. Matanuska tundra, super silver haze just to name a couple. Trichomes are the best way to check

Depends on the genetics honestly. Some plants dont even turn amber trichomes. Some will just be milky. Everyone has a different way. Do what works best for you!

I wait a 2-3 weeks after I notice the buds look cloudy or milky from the crystals. I do not have a magnify glass but I can clearly see the mushroom shaped crystals when I focus really close on my plants and I can see the ambering of crystals when I look that close comparing to other crystals.. if I had a magnifying glass that would be he best alternative

I can safely say the most difficult thing is watering your plants properly so you develop a big root system before the flowering stage when root development basically stops.

But you should also get a jewlsers loop and look at the trichomes and look for a 60 40 white to brown thats about the best time to save the bid

I like the animations, I like the voice. I'll go ahead and sub. Don't get your trimming scissors ready until you've hung that fresh plant upside down for 4 days. You want to cocoon the buds in the fan leaves for the first 4 days before trimming and completing your 10-day dry. Place immediately into a brown glass jar and a store in a wine cooler at 60°. If you are growing outdoors, you'll need to rinse your buds with a clean water and hydrogen peroxide mix, followed by another dip in fresh clean water before you hang. This method requires the initial dry to be 6 days instead of 4. Do this carefully as the trichomes are very sensitive. Make sure you use room temperature water as cold water will make the trichomes brittle and easier to fall off. If you wanted to get super technical, You can place a screen into your rinse bucket to catch any loose trichomes.
