At 73 years of age, had my DNA done, found out my father was not my biological father, 7 siblings, only one was his biological child, god I love that man. Regrettably my twin died not knowing who his father was, as well as an older brother. Our biological father knew about us, but never contacted us, although he had 10 other children with his wife, whom all knew the secret and never told any of us.Both fathers died before I found this out. Life is very interesting as my mother died without telling her secret, loved that lady too. Life is what we make of it, no regrets, was fed, educated and cared for, can’t ask for more than that. I have 3 children myself ( I think they are all mine ) lol. Enjoy life to the fullest, don’t get hung up on things that mean very little in the big picture.

I enjoyed the stories very much! I especially enjoyed hearing the man who was part Italian, and finding his dad, was not his biological father, but took him as his own, and showed him lots of love! He did not need to know anything about his bio father, he loves his dad very much- that was BEAUTIFUL☺

I have also been the DNA test. I didn’t do it to find family..I just wanted to know where in the world my ancestors came from. Before you take one of these tests, be aware that you might find more than you are ready for. And..if you’re adopted and you are really lucky, you quickly learn what the words mother and father truly mean. They are not the person who gave birth to you or donated sperm. A mother and father are much more. Together, or individually, they are the people who teach you right from wrong. They are the persons who tuck you in at nite when you’re small and read stories to you. They are the people who “pick you up, dust you off, and send you on down the road” (slightly paraphrased from a Garth Brooks song). From the minute they hold you, til the moment they take their last breath, they are the people who love you no matter what. They are your true Mom and Dad.

It should be crime to make your partner think it’s his child, when it’s not. Guys should get a paternity test asap, in today’s day in age.

DNA testing revealed a few things to my family. We all suspected our grandfather may biologically not be our grandfather. He's been gone since 1979 and just last year we learned he wasn't
via a family ancestor DNA site. Also I always felt my daughter, who I raised, was mine from a failed relationship with her mother, but I was never 100% . When my daughter did her DNA I was kind of holding my breath. Fortunately her results showed my sisters daughter as her 1st cousin, so I knew then she was my daughter. It would not have mattered to me if she wasn't, but then she would have become curious who her biological father was, and I'm so glad to not have to live that chapter. Yet another DNA revelation Was with my aunts. I had 3 of them. One of them was so odd and differently looking from anyone in the family that we truly wondered if she had been switched in the hospital. She was kind of crazy too and her son was eventually taken and she was committed. Turns out, through DNA that she WAS our aunt :)

You have to remember it is not guaranteed that all of these women had affairs. Rape can produce a child. Rape was hushed up and rarely prosecuted, seen as a shame on the woman. I know a mother who loves her child and never wanted them to know that rape was why they existed. She loved them unconditionally. Her husband supported and loved the child as his own because it was half her.

DNA=Truth. At 60 yo DNA testing revealed the secret that my mother took to her grave. The emotional roller coaster ride was horrendous. As an NPE (Not Parent Expected) memories are imploded. Trust is destroyed. Families are torn apart. Your identity is shredded. The 30+-year-old family tree I had worked to grow split and half crashed to the ground. The DNA genealogist in this video is right to warn people before they test to be ready for surprises. My experience has a happy ending. I knew my biological father growing up though I didn't know he was my father (he and my mother kept the secret quite well!). Sadly my half brother died before we could meet. The rest of the family embraced me with open arms. Despite my experience, I encourage people to test because they could be the missing DNA link that helps someone else the mystery of who they are.

She said she has to disclose that their father may not be their father, but the same would be with the mother as well.

Biological parents are just that, biological donors. If they didn't raise you, then your adopted parents are your mother and father. They deserve that title; Mom, Dad, Mother, Father, Parents.
