THE ROOF OF GLACIER NATIONAL PARK: CLIMBING MOUNT SIYEH, HIKING SIYEH PASS AND BEARS AT THE SUMMIT!

Siyeh Pass and Mount Siyeh are among the best hikes in all of Glacier National Park. In addition, this area of Glacier has a good amount of grizzly bear! Mount Siyeh is Glacier National Park's most accessible 10,000 foot peak and it may be the easiest of them to climb. Perhaps the most spectacular part of this climb is the 4,100 foot drop from the summit of Mount Siyeh to turquoise blue Cracker Lake below. Siyeh Pass via Piegan Pass trailhead at Going to the Sun Road is another great option as this trail climbs over 2,000 feet in 5 miles. The reward of hiking to Siyeh Pass is views down into Otokomi Lake, Saint Mary's Lake and multiple peaks in the area. This pass is definitely one of the most beautiful areas in Glacier National Park.

I got to do this summit last summer. One of many I did in glacier, but definitely my favorite. Words cannot describe the feeling you get from these views

I recently discovered your channel. Best footage I have found. My girlfriend and I recently visited Glacier for the first time, got our feet wet with Iceberg lake and Scenic point. Siyeh and Flisnch look amazing. At a certain point do you leave a trail and climb up, scramble? PS Are you from MN, saw the Surly hat?

Thanks for the content Matt! What would you say are some other accessible peaks in the park? And where did you do your research to find the right trails? Thanks for the help!

Love your channel! I’m coming to glacier for the first time this august! We’re hoping to do Reynolds and Siyeh. We hike all kinds of class 3 scrambles in Washington where we live. Do you think Siyeh and reynolds will be ok for us? I keep worrying what if Montana mountains are different 🤣

The grizzlies have figured out that army cutworm moths shelter under the rocks on Siyeh to escape the heat. That's why you see so many up there flipping rocks.

We are planning a 8 day trip to GNP next year. Do you have any recommendation on top hikes? We plan on spend half the week on the east side and half on the west side of the park. :)
