Day in the Life of a Doctor | NIGHT SHIFT on the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) | 12 hour shift | IMT UK

Показать описание
Come join Drs. Ibreez and Ibrahim as they take you through a night shift on the intensive care unit (ICU) at Derriford Hospital. As internal medicine trainees (IMT), ICU is now a mandatory rotation, so it is a good idea to know what you can expect!
They talk you through how the ICU night shift is set up, who they can go to for help and support, how they are expected to see patients, as well as when their shift starts and ends. ICU has the sickest patients in the hospital, so it very important you know exactly what you are doing for the duration of your shift, or at the very least who to escalate to in case of an emergency.
The ICU at Derriford is divided into two sections- general intensive patients (such as respiratory failure, metabolic acidosis/alkalosis, drug overdose, post-myocardial infarction, etc) and a neuro intensive patients (such as post-op brain tumor removal, subarachnoid hemorrhages, spinal injuries, etc). Ibrahim was covering the general unit while Ibreez covered neuro.
