lol imagine being the account manager at Adidas having to go into a board meeting saying you’ve just lost the German National team 😬

German here: DFB needs money and Nike pays significantly more than Adidas.
That's why Adidas lost.
Bye.

I understand why the DFB choose Nike given the much better offer. However as a German I think it’s quite sad that we have two of the three biggest sports apparel manufacturers in our country and yet our most important national team is going to be supplied by an American company. Let’s hope Adidas or Puma will have a better offer in 2034.

As a German fan, Germany football shirts without the adidas logo is really unthinkable. It was just there, for ever, but not now, not anymore.

“After all, Germany has some experience with reunions.”

Poetic and funny all at once. Well done 😂

LFC fan here - adidas make better football kits than Nike. So do warrior and NB.

Nike’s kits are usually poorly designed and significantly more expensive which makes it hard for ordinary fans to buy.

I'm supprised that no one is mentioning that Nike is positioned very well to become a monopoly in the sports ware space, and that outcome will definitely not be positive for the fans or the teams, and organisations that they sign contracts with. We can already see the ways in which Nike has used their position to dilute and damage the images of sports teams and leagues in the US. The abysmal NBA jurseys for example, which are poor quality and suffer from frequent tears, and where they have flooded the market with so many alternate and anniversary jerseys. I hope that we can all see and notice the ways in which Nike has already begun cutting corners and that they will only do so more agrresively once they control even more of the market.

It was shocking to imagine German national team without Adidas kit even for a non German like myself ( I'm South African) atleast if it was Pumas it was going to be understandable it also a German sports brand
But nonetheless Nike is about to lose France, Brazil, Portugal and Barcelona so here's an opening for Adidas

Fun fact, adidas wasn’t even notified about the DFB until it made it to the news that they’d ditch adidas for Nike

I hope the DFB returns to Adidas or goes to Puma in 2034. These trends (replacing our European products - cars, clothes, parfumes, machines with American and Chinese ones) should stop if we want to have adequate economic growth and stability!

„Three more world cups followed in adidas shirts“ That is not true. The 75 years partnership refers to the shoes. Until 1963 leuze was supplying the kits then umbro. Erima was supplying the kits for the world cup 74 and 78 while adidas gave them jackets shoes…, but adidas bought erima in 1976. The stripes and logo are only on the shirts since 80s.

Its because of that common misconception that the whole thing was such a big deal in tbe first place.
