Personally, every artist should be independent. The advance of technology, and access to studio equipment, with digital distribution, the major label is strictly there for fame purposes. There’s no money in that with those crummy deals. Unless you have multiple streams outside of music like a Rick Ross.

I’m a producer/artist, and practicing DJ & there is no reason to sign any deal quite honestly. Tobe Nwigwe is a PERFECT example. No label. Just all him & his team. Artists, y’all can put out your own EP’s and albums. You can book your own tours. Your social medias are your promotional tools! You can do it!!!!

Haven’t watched the video yet but my take is that most Major labels won’t even be interested in signing you if you haven’t made a big impact as an indie artist. So going hard as an indie is step one either way. Getting signed and getting shelved could be the worst thing ever.
