Prince is an underrated legend. Literally he got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame just off his work in the 80s. I wish people would recognize him for all the stuff he went through just to show us how unfair the music industry truly is.

If Prince wasn't musician genius, he'd be philosopher or poet or someone changing the world for better anyway. Wildly intelligent, wise and profound man with strong personality who couldn't be manipulated or fooled, not even being, bought' as 99% artists are - just selling out their souls (most of those 99% not even having real talents) for money and fame. Prince was so different not only as artist but also as human being. Absolutely rare gem to be found on many levels. He has my respect for his personality too because no matter if people are famous or not maaany go through life just not even thinking about life in deeper sense, not even trying to find out who they are, just accepting the routine and whatever society is serving them on their life's table, never questioning it, not critically thinking, not aiming for some sort of Truth behind all parade...but Prince was not like that. That's why I say take away fame, even musicality from him (hypothetically), he'd still be the rare kind of soul on this planet Earth.💜🌟

In a sense yea... Technically you could make more doing it on your own... But the thing is... With a record deal you are GUARANTEED 20 million dollars even if your albums don't go that great. If you do it yourself you have to cover ALL expenses for production and what have you so you could actually end up losing money

But theres bit of detail missing theres a difference between mariah carey and prince in that mariah has to pay people to write alot of her material and play the instruments and produce etc unlike prince who can enter a recording studio by himself and write, perform, record, and produce everything just by himself without the need of a company help other than distribute his work so he deserves more than mariah Carey
