Very well explained by reading between the lines!! So on an average, we may reach 64% from now till 2026, but the last lot could be say, 80%- 90% indigenous by the time HAL finishes the order.

If we were China we would call it Chinese WS 69 engine but we still calling it AL-31 variant

A good number of Chinese nationals went to West, studied, worked in aerospace and moved back to China. Chinese govt incentivized them to return and developed China's own aerospace. These people had first hand knowledge and experience of jet engine building. At an extreme some stole schematics. I think that played a lot in China's gain in aerospace.

I am always impressed with even the basic reporting. Reason: research behind these short videos - very impressive.

Well thats mainly because Rafale f4 exists and super sukhoi is under development. I am not saying it wont be better, it could even be better than the f5 but we dont have them so comparison is difficult. Even first tejas mk1a not yet delivered. So we can boast our technical prowess once field them

Kaveri 2 is under progress and we should hope for better results from it after changes in matellurgy. I guess some work will also be done on core other than afterburner. If we will get able to achieve 90+ kN with it, it will be game changer. You know, dreams of a hyper nationalist person 😅😅😅😅....

Eventually, the government has to recognise the needs of the hour and ask the private sector to hire the right kind of skill set to deliver time bound results. India can achieve anything provided it's people and industries are encouraged through incentives.

It is also a thought provoking that how russia always gave TOT to both india and china but only china took the advantage, learnt and valued the TOT but India as usual was and is waiting for miracle to happen. Now f414 TOT is also there but we still looking for french TOT for 110kn engine. Imagine that both giants- russia and USA gave TOT and we still just doing nothing and asking more from france.

We have a long, long way to go ! I'm sure none of us watching this video in our lifetimes will be able to hear about 100% indigenized engines at all !!!

Jai Hind....to improve the scale & quality of localization efforts, we must design an aircraft using AL-31FPs for use by IAF & IN....i think TEDBF/ORCA would be very suitable as they will need 120-130kn class engine to achieve full design potential & western JV engine of same class seems quite a long time away....using AL-31s, design the aircraft in 2-3 years...complete the the testing in 2 years & initiate the production in 5th year...thereafter if Western JV goes through use that in tranche 2 as well as AMCAs....if Western JV doesnt materialize & we cannot obtain IZ-30/AL-51s, just refine the AL-31s involving private players and use it in TEDBF/ORCA/AMCAs

Fun fact:-
M88 jet engine which is used in rafale aircraft has less thrust compared to kaveri but one is being used for mass production aircraft and kaveri is still stuck in testing fase on tejas mk1 i wonder why?
Like here's a how the stats are:-
M88 - military thrust is 50kn
Kaveri - military thrust is 52kn
M88 - thrust with afterburner is 75kn
Kaveri - thrust with afterburner is 81kn
The only downside i see here is power to weight ratio m88 engine weight 283kg less than kaveri

Good opportunity to develop knowhow of an AL 31 class engine, but isn't it a bit late now. What was achieved during all the past years of assembling them? And will such engine tech remain relevant after 8 to 10 yrs?

As usual, we're only about 25 years too late in following the China model. This could have been done long, long ago

What in view is the reason for the slow pace of development even on a high stakes project like fighter engine?
