This has become my "go to" orchestra, especially now with social distancing, sheltering in place, etc. What a great source of uplift and encouragement.

I love this HR FRANKFURT SYMPHONY. I love its clean pure sound, its strings, its wood winds, its brass, its splendid theater, and of course its conductor.

The transition to the third to fourth movement is one of the best moments in all beethoven symphonies.

I have to mention this...I read once about a critic, who when he first hear the 5th Symphony, said that after hearing it he went to put on his hat "but couldn't find my head." Fifty years ago when I first heard this work I couldn't find my head either, and I wasn't wearing a hat. This work leaves me breathless every time I hear it!

Mr. Duchamp commented that this performance is played with "open strings", and he misses the vibrato usually heard; even so, he gives it a general thumbs-up. So do I...and certainly it is a matter of taste, whether vibrato or not...but I find this open-string approach to be eminently expressive. Many of us are "old" enough to remember how the more "traditional" interpretations sounded...and it is very refreshing to hear these flatter tones, the crisper tempi, and the resulting clarity; check out the 3rd set, when the basses and celli enter with their rapid fugal theme; what once sounded like so many tiddelywinks falling on the floor now has total order. Oh yes, another superlative HR Orchestra/Orozco- Estrada achievement! JAT

Andrés Orozco's full-body conducting is like seeing music.

Maestro Estrada brings out the magic in every work. He makes the connection between the composer and the public. Pure magic!

It's just so mind bending that any human could come up with just these certain placing of notes and instruments together. The themes, developments, harmonies, assigning of certain notes and little supporting figures large and small to the different voices of the orchestra. Incredible genius. And people who know nothing of all this fabulous world of great music Do know when a work is great, and when it's not so great. What an incredible blessing that Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, Strausses, Wagner, and a few others were given the heavenly gift of musical genius, that they might then enrich all our lives. We who live all over the planet. And what an ineffable gem is this orchestra and its splendid conductor! Deo gratias.

When you heard Beethoven 5th so many times, you could almost know the next pharse. Andres manged to give new meanings to the dynamics, balance between strings, brass and woodwinds, even to the intensity of the tone colors. Such new meanings give the music a new life without compromising what Beethoven trying to communicate to his audience. Well done!!

I stumbled across these guys by accident and they're absolutely captivating. I've been a "Karajan/Berlink Philharmoniker" guy all my life but this orchestra under Orozco-Estrada has redefined Beethoven's symphonies for me. Gloriously well done!

When Beethoven heard this profomence in heaven he would have been deeply satisfied and very pleased this is spectacular playing by a truly magnificent orchestra.

Props to the sound technicians! I had never been able to listen to the piccolo flute in the last movement and it indeed deepens the dimension of the symphony.

Everything about this was phenomenal! The energy of the orchestra, the purity of the sound of each instrument, the amazing camera work. And of course, the wonderful Maestro.

Just finished my 5-page paper analyzing of the form of the first movement! Listening to the transition into the 4th now as a treat, and ... wow, it's always blown me away, but coming at it after the total, hope-crushing end of the first movement is just so fantastic.

This is my favorite Beethoven symphony followed closely by his 7th. I love this one so much because the whole transcends the parts. The whole things just comes together beautifully, especially as it builds up towards the fourth movement and finally ruptures in pure ecstasy.

This performance is, for me, one of the major milestones in the wide variety of interpretations of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony (other major milestones: Karajan, Kleiber, Harnoncourt, Harding, Gardiner)

Liebes hr-Sinfonoieorchester,
