Finally someone else who does not wear synthetics! It seems like every item of clothing is literally tainted with plastic. The irony you point out, how we used to work out in wool, crazy how that is now abnormal.. I made a video on wool underwear, it is a game changer to switch, there are some small German brands I found that are organic wool silk blends. Just feels like this (synthetics) is the big elephant in the room no one wants to talk about.

Good stuff ! More awareness needs to be spread about this stuff.

Totally agree. Those middle-aged men on their saturday cycling gathering in bathing suits full of logo's. Or my fellow yoga moms in some spandex sausage. Yikes. Cotton short shorts do every bit as good. You have fantastic pure wool/cotton leggings if you want your legs covered. The tech fabric sports industry has one reason for the fabrics: they are cheap and don't need sewing, so everything is profit.

Wow, I did not know that wool could be used like this. I think I also was tricked by Nike to think you need synthetics for athletic attire.

What are your thoughts on the cloth manufacturers creating materials (wool and cotton) that have 1 or 2% elastane or spandex?

Don't you just love videos that start with "The Truth About..." ? I live in the Gulf Coast area (high heat and humidity) and I could not disagree more. I love polyester because it performs and endures, and not because it has a logo on it. Contrary to your conclusions, I've found that cotton polos are big moneymakers for the manufacturers, because they predictably look worn out after about 2 years of wash and wear. I have a set of 6 black Izod polyester polos (with no logos) that I've worn every workday for 10 years. I bought several extras for when any of the 6 started to wear out. Today, NONE of the 6 look any different from the unworn spares that still live in their retail plastic bags, in my dresser drawer. TEN YEARS of daily wear and weekly wash-and-air-dry laundering. I'll never buy another cotton polo because they don't wick and they don't last. Just recently I replaced all of my cotton denim Levi blue jeans I wore daily with those polyester polos, with $27 Wrangler polyester pants at Walmart. The moment I tried on the first pair, I was shocked by how feather-light they felt and how much cooler they felt than the cotton jeans. It was like wearing air conditioned pants. And because the fabric weave is far tighter and more fine than denim, they have extra cargo pockets that integrate so well that you have to look carefully to even see them, so the pants don't look at all like the dorkey, gusseted pockets on denim cargo pants. I've never liked the Wrangler brand, but I love these pants because wearing them feels far better than the Levi's I've worn all my life. My girlfriend used to wear cotton denim shorts all summer. I talked her into trying a pair of polyester Slazenger women's golf shorts. About a month later she said, "Remember the synthetic shorts you bought for me? They are my go-to shorts now". I've since helped her replace all her cotton tee shirts with polyester, some of them long-sleeved which she can wear in hot weather because of the wicking. She loves the wicking, she loves the intense colors and patterns, and THEY NEVER FADE OR WEAR OUT. I've been road cycling for decades and everything from my helmet to my shoes is 100% plastic. I've ridden through downpours with zero chafing, because the clothing wicks so perfectly. And say what you want about spandex on cyclists, but it fits like a second skin and the stuff wicks and cools like a dream. How about this for "irony": what's the total environmental impact of a cotton garment that has to be replaced every 2 years for wear, vs. a single plastic garment that lasts for 10 years?

So wool is better because that is what they used to wear before it was displaced by synthetic fibers? Not much of an argument there.

Ya used to think it was necessary myself, but after 2 months organic I feel so much better. Synthetics are really only right for people that aren't regularly active and maybe they drink alcohol and consume coffee so their sweating isn't optimal and uncomfortable. Eating right and using the body regularly also helps the body regulate things like sweating and fighting off stinky pathogens on the skin, and if the clothing worn is natural and porous materials you should be able to cool properly. From my exploring synthetics seem to aquire and retain lipids(lipid buildup), this seems to be a source of skin issues at minimum. Also the effects of simply wearing plastics are probably not well understood yet and in my experience I don't feel as healthy or mentally aware when I wear them myself.
