If I have to order standing up, pick up my own food, and bus my own table, the tip is 0.

A tip is a gesture for a service being provided... not for simply turning an ipad around. People need to STOP giving into this BS. It's not the customer's responsability to pay the employees' wages.

If a state passes a law to phase out tipping I’d be the first in line to move there. 😂

Tipping should be outlawed. It needs to go.

Even the self service kiosks are asking for tips. Just ridiculous.

I went to a fast food place where the 0 tip was so buried under multiple clicks on the screen. On top of that the cashier watched you the whole time. I can see how people in this situation will feel pressured to do so. I looked her in the eye, and found no tip and left!!!

Tip needs to be outlawed. Give them hourly rates and remove all tip jars, iPads, and guilty looks.

The restaurant owners and CEO’s need to stop raising their own salaries or take a pay cut so that they can pay their workers a living wage, not try to force/pressure the customers to pay their workers’ salaries.

To reduce my costs I order pizza via carryout so I don't have to tip the delivery driver. I drive to the restaurant and pickup the pizza myself. Now when I go to pay with my credit card, the screen is asking me for a tip. A tip for what? The very reason I do my own pickup is to avoid the tip. I always hit decline, but it makes me uncomfortable. Maybe I should just buy frozen pizzas at the grocery store and skip the restaurant altogether.

Tipping is way out of hand. 15% was always considered a very good tip in the past, now they feel cheated if you don't give them 20%. No one tipped for takeout in the past, now it's expected. There are tip jars in every restaurant other than major fast food places. I pay 15% at a sit down restaurant, but not for takeout. Anyone who isn't waiting tables should be payed at least minimum wage.

If I have to eat out, it's always to-go so I don't have to be guilted into tipping for their service. Then either go to a park or outside to eat

I don’t tip anymore. Weed dispensers are even asking for tips when all they do is give PRE PACKAGING WEED. WHY WOULD I TIP FOR THAT.
Then ppl wanna look at you weird when you stand your ground and don’t tip

I used to tip for my airport Uber rides but not no more… the fare has increased

Papa Murphy's is one that irks me. I have to go pick up the pizza, take it home, and bake it myself, but they want a tip. I stopped going there when they started automatically adding a tip on the website. I've never been back and never will.

CA mandatory minimum wage for franchise restaurants is $20/hr vs. $16. Went to a sandwich place and bought two sandwiches and a drink, came out to $36 and I was given 3 bold options, 20%, 18% and 15%. 15% tip was over $5!

These people are already making over minimum wage! Whatever happened to tipping $1 being good for to-go services?!

I will tip when dining in and receiving deliveries. I am NOT tipping for take out or ordering a cup of coffee.

If I sit down, give my order to someone who takes order elsewhere, then they bring me drinks, cutlery, etc, deliver my food to table, check again if all is good? I will tip. Always.
I do not and will not tip when I walk to a counter, items rung up, and I then leave with my stuff. No way. It drives me nuts. A frozen yog shop. We walk in, get our own container, fill the bowl, and add condiments and toppings we desire. Get our own silverware, and put it on scale. They simply hit a button and turn screen for me to then pay. And there is a huge tip jar right there. I have watched. People put money on there! Omg. And they do not have discounted service industry wages here in my state. Or at least not that place. I checked. I used to work fast food. Not tip dependent wages at all. They do it cause they can.

No tipping in Europe and the price is the same for most things when you get food. Businesses should pay their employees minimum wages at the very least. Tipping should go away in the USA.

The proposed solution @4:52 of pay increase fails by the way. I had a heated disussion with west coast employes in WA who are getting more money as part of a bill that was passed. They argued that despite their pay increase to a living wage, they deserve a 25% tip as well. It never ends. They were extremely upset that I even considered giving them less, despite making $15/hr. Meanwhile in NC servers make $2.13/hr. They are the workers who deserve a tip.

I just don't revisit places that have unwarranted tipping solicitations.
