Russian jet flies within feet of U.S. military plane

A Russian jet came dangerously close to a U.S. military plane flying over the Black Sea on Monday. The Pentagon said the Russian aircraft intercepted a U.S. Navy patrol plane in international airspace, coming within 5 feet of the American plane.

What a sad state of journalism. CBS, at a national level, shows an animation of an F/A-18 fighter jet and calls it an EP-3. The EP-3 is a four engine turbo prop that looks nothing like the sleek F/A-18 fighter! Embarrassing and sad for CBS.

CBS did not even try to have aircraft representative to the ones involved in the actual incident in this animation. The American plane was an EP-3 Orion (They got the label right at least!), which is exactly like the F-18 shown here, in that they both have wings. That is about all they have in common. Sweet news, though. Also the Russian aircraft was an SU-27, not an SU-24 as is depicted and labeled here. Not as different as the f-18 and the p-3, but still not really representative. This is literally the definition of fake news. I imagine this is an old animation they just re-labeled and called it “good enough.”
