Latin Alternative Music Conference, Part 2 | Nueva York

We dedicate this episode to the second part of the Alterniva Latin Music Conference, LAMC, which takes place every summer in New York.
We begin with the Mexican group Centavrvs, they combine psychedelics corridos with a–gogó Jarocho, visionary cumbia and bachata. In 2015 they were nominated for a Latin Grammy in the category for best alternative music album.
Then we talked to Chilean musician, composer and multi-instrumentalist, Gepe, whom in addition to his solo work, also participated in the duo Taller Dejao, with bassist Javier Cruz. In August 2015 he released his 5th studio album "Freestyle".
Later, we interviewed Peruvian duo Alejandro and Maria Laura. In 2011 they released "Paracaídas", their first album, produced by Matías Cella. At the end of 2013 they presented their second album "Fiesta para los muertos".
And we end with the Mexican band Torreblanca. With its alternative rock-pop style, they have recorded several LP's, including his latest album “El polvo en la luz” next to Hector Castillo, whose production has received very good reviews.

Dedicamos este episodio a la segunda parte de la Conferencia de Música Latina Alterniva, LAMC, que tiene lugar cada verano en Nueva York.
Iniciamos con el grupo Méxicano Centavrvs. que combina los corridos psicodélicos con el a–gogó jarocho, la cumbia visionaria y la bachata. En el 2015 fueron nominados al Latin Grammy en la categoría mejor disco de música alternativa.
Luego hablamos con el músico, compositor y multiinstrumentista chileno, Gepe quien además de su trabajo como solista participó en el dúo Taller Dejao junto al bajista Javier Cruz. En agosto del 2015 lanzó su 5to disco de estudio “Estilo libre”.
Mas tarde, entrevistamos al dúo peruano Alejandro y Maria Laura. En el 2011 ellos lanzaron "Paracaídas", su primer álbum, producido por Matías Cella, y a finales del 2013 presentaron su segundo disco "Fiesta para los muertos".
Y terminamos con la banda Mexicana Torreblanca. Con su estilo rock-pop alternativo, han grabado varios LP's, entre los que se destaca su más reciente disco “El polvo en la luz” al lado de Hector Castillo, y cuya producción ha recibido muy buenas críticas.

Nueva York is an Emmy award winning series about Latino culture in New York. The 30-minute show explores the rich textures of Latino society in the city, focusing on politics, art, culture, and the traditions of Spanish-speaking populations across the metropolitan area. Each episode features prominent leaders from the tri-state area's cultural and public spheres sharing their thoughts and accomplishments with viewers. Interviews are hosted by Mexican novelist and critic Carmen Boullosa and Chilean journalist and writer Patricio Lerzundi. The general producer is Professor Jerry Carlson, specialist in Latin American cinema. They are all members of the academic staff at CUNY. The series is produced by bilingual professionals from Colombia, Guatemala, Massachusetts, Mexico, and Texas. In addition, the series offers documentary segments about events, exhibits, concerts, and institutions.
