Here's a video to help you practice your finger drumming. The finger roll technique appears to be pretty popular on the cajon! I hope this video helps you out if you want to drum more with fingers on the cajon.

Oh my god, I never knew there was such a thing as "finger drumming" but I'm 13 years old and in high school and this is literally just what I do on the tables in lessons! so cool!

I've been practicing this on my desk during maths, I've kind of got the hang of it but it needs more work.

Watched a few of your videos now and they are excellent. I have been playing just about all percussion for more than 30 years and I am still learning from videos like yours. A bit of clear and precise instruction can make a new pathway in our drumming brains and starts a whole new branch of the Tree of Groove®. Starting with your left is like a reboot...
Looking forward to more. Keep rocking and popping, tapping n slapping

You have just earned yourself a new subscriber. I'm a percussionist and just recently bought a cajon just because of your videos.

I‘m not a drummer but I‘ve worked out almost the same technique, chops and speed like you 😄 Playing guitar since 2002 though. I‘m driving everyone crazy with this. I love grooving out in the car to different metal bands and fingerdrum on the steering wheel 😆

Great vid. Just started with the Cajon a year or two ago, but have only been playing seriously for a few months. These videos are a huge help, so.... thanks.

It's cool you did a video on that... I do it ALL THE TIME, I actually practice hits on any surfaces or on my legs and body any time of the day... when I sit on the cajon I realize I have gotten better without even playing on the instrument... its amazing a ))

.. and you are good teacher by the way.Could you maybe show the exercice on the cajon have the same problem, quite hard to make volume with fingers. Is it just practice or maybe a problem on the way i put hand on the cajon? Do you hit the cajon lower than with the entire hand? I saw sometimes you put the first finger on the cajon to support your hand, but not when playing. I admit the sound is very different when my hand is in the air without any support when i hit with fingers. Many thanks.!

I've been doing this since I was about 7. My Granddad was an awesome finger drummer - I still can't do what he did. Transfer this over to a drum machine though and you're rocking!

This is what I do to practice my Tetris 40 line sprint in my head

I play with mainly with my thumb, index, and middle on my left hand and my index, middle, and ring on my right hand. I ought to come up with exercises that practice those fingers.
