The Caravan loot has lots of random items which can be useful such as ingredients for alchemy and enchantments.

What version are you playing? And will having mods affect if these chests exist? Im playing 1.6.640 with a few basic mods, and none of the secret chests exist. Not whiterun, none of the khajiit chests, , nothing.

Ok so I hit one of them on accident an had to kill them all and now they are not respawning

Legendary Edition took out the trees and parked a cart there .
No chest .

Does the Khajiit Caravan have to be there?
