Review of PURLING Bold chess set 'Version 1' from London.

An in-depth look at the famous Purling "Bold" chess series. This is version 1, some of the criticism I had for the set has been shored-up in the recent editions from Purling. Retail cost for this particular set was $795 + shipping from London when I purchased it.

I was wondering how their sets are. The price tag they post were prices in my opinion were way too high for painted or lacquered Boxwood pieces which are a plain Jane Staunton pattern. Well now I know. Thank you for the video.

Hi Sassan! Hope you are well and everything is good at your OC chess & sports club. Would it be possible to edit the description of this video to state that it is our 'Bold Chess Version 1' please? We are now soon about to launch Version 3(!) with Italian Nappa leather felts and other nice improvements. Our Bold Chess version 2 launched over 2 years ago (January 2017) with heavier weights in the pieces, which is one of your key criticisms in the video.

This is one ugly chess set if you ask me. Who would wanna own non weighted, glossy, golden coloured chess pieces!?

But let me Say in vídeo the pieces look like they were Made out of plástico, too glossy and what Say you about the squares size? They añorar to he little shorts for the pieces.

According to their website the pieces are triple-weighted.When did you buy your set? Maybe they have updated their pieces now?

Some people actually prefer unweighted pieces ( Bobby Fischer ) for transport or blitz chess even though it might feel cheaper.
