Elephant Hill Trail is about a 90 minute drive from Moab and features some fun obstacles and amazing views. We rate this as a mid-moderate, so any stock Jeep with good all-terrain tires should be able to handle it easily.

Did that trail over Thanksgiving. We went the opposite way and 1st camp was hardscrabble. The second day it was on and off rain. The switchbacks scared the crap out of me doing them in the mud. We hit schafer switchbacks at night with rain. About three quarters up it switched to snow. My nerves were fried but i lived..

Nice trail. I run 35” Mickey Thompson Baja’s and 4.88’s on my 2005 TJ Unlimited. Seem to do very well. We’ll see if they wear too much. They do very well on the trail.

I went through there a year and a half ago in my JL Unlimited Sport with 33" tires and Rubicon height lift. I had no problems but I would suggest that this is the minimum for tire size and clearance. There were a few places where we had to get out and scout ahead to determine the best route. It is really a fun trail.

We're heading to Moab in 1 week and we're for sure going to the elephant hill trail. Thanks for ur video. Our jeep is a 2017 JK Custom General Patton Edition on 37x12.50x17 Firestone Destination MT2's with 488 gears in the Dana 44's.

My favorite trail in the Moab area, done it many times. Next time go left on Devils Lane and go over to the Joint Trail hike. It is longer and more strenuous hike than the confluence, but it is worth it, trust me! And you get to go through SOB Hill on the way, which is a challenging obstacle - more challenging than most of Elephant Hill really.

The gearing balance is always interesting. I run 4.56 on 35s in my Ramcharger. But I also swapped a NV4500 in back with the 360 magnum, all out of 2000 Ram 2500. And a Dana 300 which only has 2.62 low. 1st gear is 5.61 in the NV4500. They used to make a 3.8-1 and 4-1 gear set for the 300. Not sure if I’ll ever do that. .73 overdrive helps on the highway too.

This is still my favorite trail we have run so far. I cant recommend it enough. Kind of a pain with the permit, long drive from town, entrance fee into canyonlands, group size limits, etc. However it is 100% worth it and will be a staple in our yearly Moab trip.
Our stock Rubicon ecodiesel did fantastic on it, only scraping a bit in a few spots.
We went to to confluence but didn't go down to the joint. It was 110° when we did it in early-mid July so we were kind of nervous out there with only 1 other jeep in our group.

We hit up steel bender on the way back, but I tucked tail when we got to "the fall". Moab is an amazing playground for us isn't it?!?

What is the permit process like? I have had a jeep for a few years and Moab looks so fun!

Enjoyed the video - wondering if a stock Wrangler and Cherokee could make the trail without disaster?

Most side by sides in Utah are registered, have licensed plates, and are allowed on most roads. People with dogs need to visit Utah state parks, where dogs on leash are allowed almost on every trail. The NP system is not dog friendly.

Could I do this in my 2015 F150. I’ve got a 4” suspension life on 33” Toyo AT 3.
