Is Supersonic Coming Back? The Future Supersonic Jet - Boom Supersonic

Recently, I visited Boom Supersonic HQ to see their latest development on the supersonic airplane. I met with the Boom Supersonic founder and CEO Blake Scholl who talked about the timeline of supersonic and why we need supersonic. I was given a behind-the-scenes tour of the XB-1 demonstrator that Boom is currently building and testing.

After flying on the Concorde at twice the speed of sound, I am really keen to see if supersonic travel can happen in the future in a more sustainable fashion. For supersonic fans, the next to watch is the XB-1 experimental airplane flying in the sky.

I was lucky enough to fly the concord as a child and I can tell you that if they get the product to market I am fully on board. Vacation times are limited and there is more of the world that I want to experience. Knocking time in the air in half is a game changer.

I just got back from Brooklands Motoring Museum today and sat on the concorde, even though it was only 1/1000 the experience of flying on the concorde, it will still amazing being able to look at the engineering and walk onboard it's body, I sure hope one day British Airways own a Boom Supersonic and return to their glory days... It won't be the same, but it will be an experience that I will be there for, long live aviation!

To an extent air travel has always been about going faster. If you've ever flown from, say, London to Sydney it's a long way and time to get there.
As Jeremy Clarkson remarked when Concorde was grounded "That's one giant leap backwards for aviation".

As he said, the speed is soooo important for trips to Asia! Not only does the flight take a long time, but the jet lag is so harsh that you also end up loosing at least a day each way to extreme exhaustion and/or sleep problems, also that is obviously very unhealthy especially for elderly and disabled people. We need faster air travel, it isn't just an avgeek fantasy, it is a genuine need to improve human society's wellbeing
