I always thought that once I grew into very successful adulthood that I would finally empathize, understand and forgive the bullies in my life, their irresponsible parents, the spineless onlookers and the numerous teachers who turned a blind eye. Nope, not at all. When I see it, I see red and it feels like the forty years in between never happened. And yes, the most vicious bullying is usually perpetrated by girls, who have a very clear understanding of psychological damage they inflict. To this day, when something triggers the memories, I can honestly say I truly wish the very worst on those people.
