Thermapen actually do have decibel point it’s inside the battery compartment That's where the adjustment is for calibration and also to turn off the decibel point.

Side-by-side comparison test of Typhur vs Thermapen ONE at (11:28) is unfair. Typhur starts out at 48.6 F, but Thermapen ONE starts at 64 F or maybe higher. I have both a MK4 and a ONE and when they start at the same temperature (about 74 F) they both reach 32 F in 1 to 2 seconds. Maybe your ONE is a lemon, maybe your ONE needs a new battery.
The cold water is not uniform, the Typhur measured 36 F the first time and 35 F when measured again a few seconds later. Glass should be full of ice to the bottom and thermometers should be stirred to get accurate readings for comparison. The Thermoworks website "Learn" tab has a post about how to make an ice bath with a uniform temperature of 32.0 F. I would like to see all the models test for accuracy in a uniform 32 F ice bath.

Nice review but..
You have failed to mention that the Thermapen one has adjustments that are easy to do. Display and reading time. I have dialed my in for a faster reading.

I'm loving your video's. I'm brand new to smokers and just did my first cook, ribs, last night. And boy, my Weber thermometer was terrible for this. About 15 seconds for the temp to stabilize. I had watched your rib video and came back to see what brand thermometer you used and found this review. Ends up the Typhur is $75 on Amazon now. So I ordered one. Can't wait to try it out. Thanks so much for the great content. I have so much to learn....

I have an MK4 and I liked it so much that I gifted one to my parents. I’ve had mine for about 5 years now and haven’t replaced the battery yet. Such a great instant read thermometer! Does the Typhur one have a rotating display? I have found that feature to be super useful.

thermapen for maybe 10 years, replaced the battery maybe 2-3 years ago. It's been a rock star, thought for sure this review would put it on top. My thermapen has been intermittent with the display for about a year. sometimes you pull the steel TC reader out and the display won't turn on .. 2-3 times open close and it comes on and works. But it's 10 years old and it's been solid, I've got my money out of it 10x over and no complaints. Not even now. But... :) you've sold me on trying the Typhur... same price as thermapen and backlit and quick... let's see if it gives me the next 10.

Nice informative video, Darrin! I've been looking at getting a new thermometer real soon. I've been sporting the ole "Walmart Expert Grill" for a while. 😂 There are times when I just really don't trust it, and probably rightfully so. Like a lot of people, I was cutting cost after forking out for a new cooker. Thank you for the comparison as I'm window shopping. Lol

Money well spent👍 It does seem like your Thermapen One takes longer than mine, but I only have the original Thermapop to compare it to, so I could be mistaken😊

So much truth to this. The MK4 is the most important tool I own. I have a ThermoPop that’s still in the box.
