Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef: Sally Jessy Raphael (The Sally Jessy Raphael Show, CBS)

FULL INTERVIEW ON:

Sally Jessy Raphael steps Behind The Rope. Icon in the Flesh. The first female host to have a syndicated daytime talk show. With her Iconic red glasses in tow, we chat with Sally about the full extent of her career. A career which began in radio and spanned several decades leaving a permanent mark and having fired the landscape of daytime TV. Sally opens up about her best and worst guest, the topics she loved and did not love talking about, all of the celebrities she has interviewed, the cultural significance of being “the first" and just how much the industry has changed over the years. Speaking of being “the first”, we chat with Sally about some of the others she has paved the way for - Oprah (yes, we chat about the Meghan and Harry sit down), Ellen (yes, we chat about her mean girl reputation and the loss of 1 million viewers as a “supposed” result), Drew Barrymore (newbie) Kelly Clarkson (is it an easy transition for actors and singers?), and last but certainly not least, Miss Bethenny Frankel (well that was short lived.). Of course, we chat with Sally about The View - all the rumored backstage infighting, “Ladies Who Punch”, Barbara Walters, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Wendy Williams, and Kelly & Ryan. Since we have an Icon in our presence, we discuss the late night
talk show scene such as Daddy Andy Cohen’s WWHL and Joan Rivers’ infamous short lived stint. Remember we mentioned those iconic red glasses, we chat with Sally about the origins of her trademark look, how many pairs she actually has, does she ever go out incognito,
and whether she ever tires of them. An unbelievable trip down memory lane with the pioneer herself, Miss Sally Jessy Raphael.

When we first moved out to Bucks Co. she owned a big inn up on the river. The Issac Stover House was run by her daughter who died there.

It's a pity that they didn't get a dinner date since they were all there! Hopefully Oprah will see this & everyone will get a invite back with a dinner party invite!
