Siam, I respect your general market knowledge; however, you're mistaken. Infura is simply saying that if you use the default RPC in Metamask, your wallet address and IP will be collected; this is the same for ANY web server (and the same for ANY RPC provider). Web servers always collect this information and store it contextually in server logs. IP addresses are needed for rate limiting, geo-based analytics, and other automated tasks that aim to lower attack vectors and secure the infrastructure. All of web3 works on top of web2 tech, and there will always be some "centralized" element that acts as a proxy between the layers.

Thanks! Although I don't exactly need a great deal of privacy myself, I'm sure not comfortable with others having access to my info when I've no idea who's hands it's in. 🤔

The RPC provider is where transactions actually get processed - you send the transaction to the RPC API service, or request information from it, in order for Metamask to have any connection to the chain. Metamask handles most of those calls on the client side - ie, your browser is making the requests to/from the API service.
If you're using a network service like an RPC API server, they already have your IP. They have to, in order to communicate with you. They also have the wallet address etc because you're giving it to them as part of the RPC call.
For the sake of operating a public web service, you pretty much have to log all that stuff - if something breaks or someone hacks your system or you have trouble users overloading your servers you need to have information on who they are and what they were doing to cause the issue.

This looks more like they're updating their privacy policy to make it clear that they're "collecting" that information anyway (because you're giving it to them), rather than being silent on the matter. If you use a custom RPC service, then your browser isn't making calls to their service in the first place, so they have nothing to log. Instead, the RPC provider you specified handles the requests.
Ankr's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy don't seem to have been written with the RPC service in mind, so their policy on IP address logging etc is kind of up in the air.

Ultimately, the only way to be sure of your privacy is to run your own RPC service. If you're using other people's services, you'll inevitably give them data.

Not sure what exactly you meant by altcoin index but you can see the total market cap excluding btc with the ticker TOTAL2 (calculated by cryptocap)...

Good point, that's why Monero (wallet) and DERO are a thing

Hey Siam on your request to find an Alt Coin index. You could take the total crypto market cap - BTC -ETH - Stablecoins to get at least an Alt Coin Market Cap. I too am trying to find a Alt Index. This is the best solution I could come up with so far....

Wasn't this proven to be false. Don't they use reverse proxies?

TOTAL3 Excludes BTC & ETH so is ALTS only. also TOTALDEFI & OTHERS

Try ticker TOTAL2 (its the market cap of all cryptos excluding BTC), hopes this is what you were looking for...

Its not exaclty the same chart as ALTPERP, but its the closest I'm aware of...
