Thanks for bringing this up, docs! I had bi lateral carpal tunnel surgeries in 1995. Which moved on to bi lateral ulna nerve transportations.I tell you this because one of the four surgeries gave me RSD or Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. At the age of 30. At almost 58 now, the suffering through that has been far, far greater than the original disorders. Although it has been many years I live a great life and you come to a point of acceptance and an ability to understand your life. All life is ups and downs, just like CRPS. My advice, if possible is if you can change the job that is causing the CT, do so. Sometimes that may change the course of your symptoms and maybe even your life. Love you guys All the time..🎉🎉🎉

I had bilateral CTS surgery when I was 26. Mine was due to my job requirements. I took a month off for each hand. The only lasting side effects are the sensitivity on the scars and hand strength has weakened. I'm very glad I did it though.

Had CTS in my right hand and it reached its peak intensity while I was a student pilot. Got to a point where I could not push the comms button on the yoke (with my thumb) in order to reply to air traffic control. Ultimately had very successful surgery but as a sleep apnea sufferer, I was one who had the wrist splint, chin strap, and CPAP all at once for a period.

My surgery was endoscopic under general anesthesia with an incision about 1/2". I now have zero scar and zero lingering effects 10+ years on.

At one time I thought I was heading towards CTS. After working in an office for years, computer and calculator work would fatigue my wrists. But after a while, I changed the specific type of work and the pain stopped.
So many things have changed for office workers, ergonomic keyboard and mouse are just some of the things and of course, self awareness, the right position and resting the fatigued area. It always helps to beware of the problem and compensate for any stress or pain.
Plus videos like this that explain what it is, what to do and if surgical intervention will help.
You two continue to give us the best information and have incredible guests!👍
Thanks for sharing another great video!

So glad he mentioned the neck might be the problem. My orthopedic surgeon was convinced after xrays and MRI that I had CTS and surgery was even scheduled. However, PCP recommended EMG test which found I had nerve pinch in my neck from arthritis. I had neck fusion surgery and CTS symptoms disappeared.

I’m a casino dealer, and had it in the beginning of my career. Rest, and proper dealing techniques corrected it. Some dealers have to resort to surgery. The pain can be debilitating.

great information! surgery is fast, but recovery takes a while---especially to get back to work if you use hand in a major way. At least it can be fixed!

What is CTS? Well, since achieving a "professional secretary" ranking in 9th grade when tested on a manual typewriter, I have now been typing for 55 years. I am a software engineer, and the poster child for CTS! It comes and goes. When it hurts, just stop working so hard. :-)

I've been through this in both hands. This doctor is right on. My doctor, Dr. George White is the top in the south east. This doctor is right there.

Just had the nerve conduction test done and the results showed one side mild and the other side moderate. My orthopedics doctor recommended surgery on the moderate side before it becomes severe. Glad I was able to watch your video because I had no idea what surgery entailed.
