Russia: We took out every single one of their drones
Reported: Wow! What did you use?
Russia: Our ammo dump. Not one drone survived

The explosion in Belgorod may have been a Russian FAB glide bomb, roughly equivalent to the western JDAM. FABs are much less reliable and this certainly wouldn't be the first time one has hit Belgorod, probably not the last either. The common release point is near Belgorod and so if the wings fail to deploy, the bombs end up literally being dropped on the city instead of gliding over it into Ukrainian territory.

Once they fire up those F16's considering the non existent Air defense it would be like shooting ducks in a pond.

A huge new Nato airbase in Romania makes sense in terms of containing Russia, but it may also serve the dual purpose of eventually replacing the Incirlik Air Base in Turkey. Incirlik is a hue base with numerous US assets, including nuclear weapons and a 10, 000 runway. It is the easternmost European airbase and, since its vital role in the Cold War, was a central location for virtually every action the US has taken in the Middle East - both Gulf wars, 9/11 response, Iraq, Afghanistan, fighting Hezbollah and ISIS, and much more as well. A Turkey has drifted away from Europe and Nato, becoming increasingly Islamist and focused on its own interests in the Middle East, relying Incirlik has become increasingly risky. The Turkish government has repeatedly limited the scope of US action at the base, and the new base would allow the US and NATO to relocate to a more Western oriented country with similar objectives.

The explosion in Belgorod was likely a Russian FAB glide bomb, which have a very high failure rate. They launch from near the city, and if the wings don’t deploy correctly, then it turns into an explosive brick and goes straight down. No engine sounds. No radar return signal. Only the boom and secondary explosions.

It’s a real shame that the Ukrainians could not wait until the 4th of July for this fireworks display. Well, Putin celebrated it early for us.

My guess it was storage in the abandoned factory on Ulitsa K. Marksa street. It is huge, about 100x200 meters, excluding a administration bulding.
