I have Muslim friends who whisper "see you in a couple hours bro", when they see security coming down the line. Any sign of a Muslim name or a Muslim man with a beard and you're bound to experience this at least once in your life.

They asked my late mother who was in a wheelchair, if she had military experience. She was 70 and in a wheelchair! Only the US can be that paranoid and stupid.

During the troubles in Northern Ireland, as an Irish person, I never passed through English customs without being taken aside interrogated and completely searched, literally every time without fail. I asked why they are always searching me, they said guess, I asked is it because I'm Irish and they said yes, simple as that. At least they aren't allowed to shoot us anymore just for speaking our native language as they used to when they were trying to eradicate our language, traditions and cultural heritage back in the day.

Went to Australia for a visit. Had my beards shaved before that. All went well. After a month, grown my beards, and time to go home. Suddenly, all security checkpoints did some 'random checks' on me.

Hi all! If you read through the comments you'll notice a lot of people talking about Northern Ireland. I'm a 15 year old Irish girl from Northern Ireland and although my parents were discriminated and attacked, I have never had to experience such horrible things. My generation of Irish teenagers are living proof that things do get better, and I pray that one day you and your children will know the same ease, comfort and safety that I do!

This actually made me feel so much better. I just got “randomly checked” at the airport again for the 3rd time in a country I’ve been living in for 20 years now.

I’m Indian, very brown and Christian. It’s a lot better to laugh at it then to go down that spiral of resentment :)

once an old white guy who was a retired pilot gave me a piece of "friendly" advice at the airport to don't leave my luggage unattended because I look Arab and hence suspicious. I thanked him and told him that I am not an Arab, I am Pakistani. and he said, "well, you all are the same, aren't you?"

A Muslim girl who was student here.
I'll never forget the stare I got when the customs dude was looking at my books then literally froze at the only Arabic book I had among a pile of French and English ones! 😂😂😂
To be fair, I was never checked "randomly" and even amid the aftermath of a terrorist attack in Belgium, people got their stuff checked without discrimination and I was never checked because of my "student mule" demeanor, always loaded with books, it was as if the cops were like "nah, let her keep that pile of books", even my dad ( muslim too) told me "no, what they did was wrong, they should check you out too, that's a serious security breach in case someone was hiding something under a pile of books!", Well, okay dad, thank you for the trust! 😂😂😂😂😂😂

As a Muslim I’m conflicted on the one hand it’s very funny but on the other hand it’s the reality that we as Muslims go through on a daily basis
