I’ve received many questions regarding the truck I use to get to my camping destinations, so here is a brief exterior walk around of my overland rig, which is also my daily driver.

It is a 2017 Toyota Tacoma with the TRD Off-road package.

I may have not been as detailed in my walkaround due to the constant rain, so Please let me know if you have any questions below!

I love it when something is chosen just for its functionally rather than the good looks. Great job!

Thanks for this video! I recently purchased my first Tacoma, a certified pre-owned 2016 TRD Off Road with all the bells and whistles, and while I've wanted to start doing mods like a lift etc, I know I don't NEED to do it. This video made me feel like I'll be totally cool with the tire size you're using knowing there won't be any issues with rubbing, and that I can get a rack that will work with my factory tonneau. Thanks!!

Awesome rig man😎👍🏻. I like how you mod your truck to your needs and not for show in regards to the lift.

Looks like your rig has it all together. You are correct, locks keep honest people honest. A thief can take your setup and will be slightly deterred by your protection devices.

The blackout on your truck is very nice and I particularly like the blackout America flag under your mirror on the drivers side. The only other item I can think of is possibly installing some Rock Lights. White rl installed on the sides and rear of your truck might be beneficial for you as you make your way around the truck at night. You could install a multiple light switch panel inside the cab or tent. Switches could be wired so you can select which area of the truck to light up. The utility of having these lights are fantastic at night. All of the lights, switches, switch panel/mount and wiring is available from Amazon. Installation is straight forward and intuitive.

I dig it man. Glad I found this channel. Last couple vids have been right up my alley. I'm currently building a rig myself. A 1999 Tahoe. Wish me luck 😬

Thanks for sharing this info! I feel it’s important to show you can enjoy overlanding without going nuts with mods.

Best approach to stop thieves, completely agree with you if they are determined to have your gear they will, the best you can do is to hope to slow them down. A visual deterrent like your cable will help deter thieves and in a lot of cases prevent the opportunist thief just grabbing something and running.

Just as a question do you carry/have mounted any safety equipment on the inside of the car. Like Life hammer, seat belt cutter, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, Trauma kit, torch (flashlight). I think thiese would make another good video.

Stay safe and take care of the misses and jr.

I have found that using COSTCO premium fuel took me from 18.5 mpg to 23mpg on my 2020 taco double cab long bed... best upgrade Ive ever found by accident.

Nice man like the truck, that's what I'm trying to do to my S-10 is make it more of a off road/ travel vehicle.
