Observations Of An American Living In Germany (83)

I apologize for going on so long. I figured most people won't mind because it's been a while since I posted anything. ( The sirens were some kind of national alert system testing. My phone was going crazy too. )

Well, I am in my last days of being in Germany. A week from now, we'll be on our way back across the pond to the United States. We were here for more than two years and it went by very quickly. Holy smoke! Our original plan was to stay until June of 2025, but my wife got selected to a better position. Since she was beyond the two-year point and still has less than three years remaining until she can retire for the second time, she was eligible.

They had a vacancy due to somebody else retiring and pretty much recruited her for the position. It's in Virginia too - but a little over an hour away from where we used to live. After she had applied and was pretty sure that they'd hire her, we found out that we're going to be grandparents in late October..............so that was like icing on the cake. My son and his wife live in Virginia - near Richmond.

They say things happen for a reason - but it still amounts to feeling as if I am just along for the ride.
