“My employer is asking me to relocate to (region) to take on a more senior role, but they are not going to cover the relocation”. Works everytime

How do you explain leaving a job w/o another lined up bc they were overworking, underpaying by like 50k, doing two jobs, and being quiet fired for developing a disabling condition due to the work stress?

I’ve taken this job as far as I can and want to change fields

This question is almost always the first question out of the interviewers' mouths. I know why they ask it (I've interviewed and hired several people myself), but it's just always so weird for them to really want you to come in and then ask something that's hinting at "Are you going to be a problem for us to hire you?".

It's especially bad if you're going through a headhunter who will sometimes *beg* you to listen to their position they just *know* you'll be perfect for and then have them start in with "So, why would you want to leave your current job?".

I wanted to facepalm less and nod more. Your company looks like the place.

Is it really Ok to say you are looking for a better work-life balance? Couldn't that be a big red flag to many employers?

Because my current job sucks really bad even though it pays ok, and I'm hoping that this one will suck less while paying about 30% better.

"My previous boss was a jerk!"

(Nah, just kidding...don't say that, even if it's true. However unfairly, the recruiter will assume _you're_ the problem, not the boss.)

"You're looking for work life balance."

What? You won't be completely dedicated to us? NEXT.

"You're looking to work remotely."

Ahem, coming to our luxirious office to collaborate and facilitate creativity is a perk!

And how bad is .... I am relocating back to this area? Not the only reason I can come up with... but it's the most pressing and the most obvious.

Hi @A Life After Layoff, can you please do a video on wether or not to list gig work experience if it’s current, but your previous experience shows you have been in a traditional setting? For example, I have been doing Amazon Flex for 8 of the 12 months I’ve been out of work, but my previous experience was a leadership role.

Well, how does one answer this question when they've only been at their current job for less than one year? One woman I interviewed openly admitted that everyone in another department hated her and refused to work with her.

Most recent recruiter who cold called me had concerns about why I would leave my job....my thoughts. You called me, shouldn't you be selling me on why should look at your opportunity?
