People always think "that could never happen here" until it happens here.

In the 1980s', people from communist Romania escaped most of the times in Yugoslavia, because it had a great HDI.

It's amazing how important one person's presence can be for such a diverse and gargantuan country.

Let this be a stark reminder of what ethnic tension can do to a beautiful region. Love thy neighbour

Once Josip Tito died, a civil war was all but inevitable in Yugoslavia. He kept the peace and was the lynch pin in that.

Why do the 70's look better than our current times.

My dad and uncles used to holiday in Yugoslavia in the 80s from the UK. While we were in Croatia on holiday they reminisced about the friends they made and how many of them lived past their 20s. Sobering stuff for sure...

They had it so good compared to Warsaw pact states in the 70's and 80's. It's incredibly sad what happened

My mom grew up with her Mom in West Germany, they went to Yugoslavia on vacation in the 80s a lot. They were really sad what happened just a decade later to the region.

My father was in that war, my sisters (the older ones who also survived the war) told me that when my dad was on the battlefield, a sniper was aiming for him, luckily my dad cut his arm on accident. When my dad cut his hand he bended down to bandage the wound a sniper shot right at that moment and missed. My dad found out that he was aiming for him so he found a shelter on time and survived😬
Crazy story ik, i got shivers when my sister told me that story😮
