AI Art Web Design is Amazing - Are AI Website UI The Future?

AI can generate web designs that look amazing. Midjourney is one of the latest AI tools to help create inspirational designs and could bridge the gap between what we see for UI and UX in 2022 vs 2023.

Check out these website designs using artificial intelligence. Tools like ChatGPT and OpenAI are really paving the way in text based generation, but midjourney and dalle are also doing the same visually!

As a web developer who attempted to do just this a few days ago, I’ll say it’s not as useful as it looks. Because it looks really good. But I think what makes the designs attractive are the graphics not the layouts. The layouts are mostly basic layouts found on any uiux collection. Getting the graphics usable by a typical front end developer takes a Good amount of work. The layouts are not typically to scale and a lot of the elements it designs are really hard to code. So yes, from a design perspective they’re beautiful but they’re difficult to integrate into functional sites.

i see a lot of professional web designers below outlining why AI is a long way away...BUT, I would say, at this moment, for a person with NO web building skills, this improves any design I can come up with 1000% percent.. this immediately raises the entry level bar...even if I am not using PROPER layering..the artwork alone puts me, as an entry level designer, in the game. so yeah, there's a long way to go...but this is still amazing. and even if you are skilled, the point here is to use these as starting points or inspiration.

"Learn to code" they said, "it'll be great", they said.

I watched a few videos like this already and they all look exciting. However, most of the website UI generations created by Midjourney are only good for desktops at a certain resolution and don't account for responsiveness at all. So they are beautiful but may require a lot of work to adjust to real-world needs.
For the bonsai example, you'd need generated objects in layers. This might be still partly possible if you are trying to recreate the generation in steps but you won't have perfect control over the process.
And maybe the most important one: websites heavy with graphics like these, will never be performant. No chances for the green lighthouse scores.

People saying that it is not useful were expecting AI to build everything for them. The most critical part of a web design is the inspiration itself. Getting a genuine inspiration of a unique design is more than enough to get started with. I definitely see AI replacing designers in the future.

From what I've seen so far I'd describe AI as a more useful replacement for the process of illustration than the process of design. Design is a lot more than just pretty visuals. Especially when you get into interaction and product design.

Coming next week: AI creates a website and makes a YouTube video about it

I tried adding an image to Midjourney for a car model that my client wanted in his hero section. No matter how I prompted, or stylised even to 0, Midjourney couldn’t give me the exact model without modifying it.

I’d say it will take some more refining before designers are redundant really

For a relatively small channel, your video quality is outstanding! If I had a suggestion though, it would be to make it a bit more concise and perhaps add chapters so people can jump to particular sections. Overall though, great video! Subbed! 💪

people really not understanding what is the use of AI many of them thinking okay we can create lots of cool stuff through AI but they don't know how to apply that AI things to the real world. If you are just an A.I. generator then you can't win in the industry. If you are you a designer or a web designer you will get tons of concept ideas or you can use that kinds of cool images or text art or graphical images in your project. You don't want to overthink too much how to design a landing pages or a ui mobile application design you you will get tons of cool ideas that you can recreate in your own way. If you are a logo designer then you will get tons of fantastic ideas and a.i. is an absolute time saver .but if you don't know anything, technically about graphic designing or UI designing then you will suck. But in future, there is lot of problems for UI, UX, web designers or graphic designers because AI will take the job.

Me: How many AI video are you going to make?
Adrian: Yes 😃

I love the contents 👍

It would be amazing to train a text AI on web layouts, for instance sites using bootstrap 5, then use a midjourney or Stable Diffusion API to create the images such as buttons, background, heros, carousel etc

Tbh ai art it's exactly like human art, with just multiple choices, idk why people making ai art like we are seeing something we didn't see before, smh.

Very cool man! I also wanted to see how you’d make a mobile responsive version of that racing site 🙏

"we can create websites that look unique and interesting in more and more ways"

I would argue with this point. It's not like without AI, this wouldn't be possible, as the only thing you showcase is getting image. Artist can draw you anything, and you can also conceptualise a lot of creative things, be it by yourself, or with someone working on designs.
The difference is that you spent extremely small amount of time on it, reducing costs (both money and time) for conceptualising and getting the asset.
This, unfortunately, goes quite well with my skepticism towards AI, that it will eventually lead as crunch-expanding tool than something which will make us more creative. Capitalism will find a way to absorb AI to cut the amount of workers, and - once legally stable - to reduce costs, but expanding scale.
The question if you would have more time to spend (because you will get stuff done extremely fast) or if it just makes demands bigger, so you will be at the same position (but f.cked if you don't use AI) is not something I want to answer, but just address as my concern.

Either way, I agree that this feels amazing, but I always need to put some bits of salt, as I do not really trust AI hype we see at the moment.
