Great video! Question: can you recommend any good Photoshop courses? I don't have a design background and have always felt intimidated by PS. I'm looking for a course I could take that, given enough practice, would help me become as proficient with PS as you are. Thanks!

Hey Jesse!! I need your help so much. I have this issue:
- I want to have buttons of 3 sizes: 24px 32px and 40px (height)
- I want my icons to scale with the increase or decrease in button size, but the icon swap property works only if the icon is of the same size.
So my question is:
Is there any way possible to make the icons scale with the button? (for example my icon is 12px in a btn of 24px, but when the btn scales to 40px, then my icon needs to be 24px instead of 12) Is that even possible without having 2 sets of icons that are 12px and 24px? or should I keep them all 16px regardless of btn size?

ATTN: NOVICE AND ASPIRING DESIGNERS. Designer with 33 years of experience here.

Jesse presents some great information. Shit's getting real, fast, and you need to be riding the crest of the wave.

OTOH, "cool" (see 2:00) is extremely subjective. Visuals are essential, yet what is "cool" to you may not be cool to others. And cool can get your application yeeted.

Yes, recruiters and hiring managers are initially hooked in dozens of milliseconds by their visceral reactions to your portfolio site. But the real proof is in what happens next. Does your landing page sell you as a unique individual? Does it convey who you are and the value you will bring? Is the interaction design, information architecture, and video / image / textual content intuitive, relatable, and optimized for efficiency and understanding so you aren't wasting the time of recruiters, hiring managers, and their employees and colleagues who will be called upon to scan your site?

AI is replacing drudgery. Figma will be obsolete soon. Anything else at that level of work will be obsolete soon. What to do? Familiarize yourselves with a much broader range of information to give you a rock solid foundation and stand out from the crowd in your first series of interviews. Behavioral science, cognitive psychology, marketing, debate, negotiation, and communication. Politics, law, ethics, and philosophy are more important than ever. Tech and humans are approaching profound levels of symbiosis with AI-informed augmented and virtual reality, bionics, brain augmentation... I'm betting that soon, we'll have hands-free collective mental communication.

It's our responsibility to draw maps and lead the way.

Don't let this overwhelm you! A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

You may ask "But which step?".

I highly recommend Joe Natoli's courses at www.givegoodUX.com as a starting point. Like me, he has over 30 years of experience in the field. He is smarter and more accomplished than I am. His work has positively impacted the careers of thousands of designers and millions of users, and has benefited the bottom line for dozens of companies. And despite his achievements, he remains humble, respectful, and eager to teach. The money you invest in his courses will be the best investment you'll ever make.

As for the rest? There's so much. Ask ChatGPT to help you. Get meta (not the *$&%^[/# company, but the methodology).

And don't forget to have fun!
