dont put the actual hook, put the chordal progression of the hook after 30 seconds as an intro bridge. This makes the listener feel like theyre listening to a hook of a song without giving away the vocal melody and all the ear candy of the actual hook. This type of section should usually come w ad libs and talking, maybe riffing for a singer etc.

Then when u bring ur actual hook in w the extra ear candy and actual vocal melody instead of just ad libs and “yo’s” and “yeah’s”, ppl sense a lift in energy and u preserve the element of surprise.

So if a hook is 16 bars, to make it 30s the bpm has to be more than 128
