I'm more interested in the 8 unique drum patterns. I see it just goes straight 1-8 in order, but I'm assuming that he breaks up the drums into 2 bar sections to have more control over where he wants to switch them up to introduce variety, when he chooses to do so. I'd also like to just how different/similar they are from one another as well.

Edit: I've noticed the most similarity between them is between the odds and evens. Two groups in 1, 3, 5, 7 and 2, 4, 6, 8 but they're all unique.

I'd say listen to the type of music you want to make and then see what makes them similar. I keep telling artist I work with to do that, always have the catchy part start on the second half, I didn't really know why but now I have an idea why. Thanks.
