If you read her story in the last part it mentions that after witnessing all her friends die, she becomes obsessed with getting stronger and locks herself away in a cabin in the woods to train. When ningguang comes to check up on her after not hearing from her for some time she finds out that yelan trained with the bow so much that her hands end up a bloody mess. Her fingernails probably came off at this time.

Yelan lost her fingernails in training. It’s said she trained a lot with the bow and when ninguang went to check her at her house. Her fingers had blood. Presumably lost her nails. The attention to detail in the lore is amazing !!!! But I agree free primos
