Major world powers including the US, China and Russia are jostling for military, political and economic influence in Africa.

The continent’s mineral resources, agricultural land and strategic locations have made it a place where many nations are keen for influence.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has recently released the latest American strategy for Africa - but what does this all mean for the continent and its people?

Anne Soy has been finding out.

African countries should mandate strict laws of the land stipulating that Africa is not for sale. Africans should make economic deals at world market level. If you don' t want our deal you can go somewhere else.

This is the second scramble for Africa: Data is the new oil, Africa has the youngest and fastest growing population. This means, in the next few years, Africa will have the highest population in the working sector, which means people using digital devices and solution. If data is the new oil, Africa is it's new oil rig.

They need to disturb the peace to affect education, health, economies, e.t.c so that Africa can remain poor and incapable of managing this new future. Whoever holds the key to AI, owns the world in the near future. AI needs data to learn, and data is in Africa.

They control the narrative, they control the governments, they control the economies, they control health infrastructures. They are using their power to secure their future.
