There’s just something about giant robots using cargo ships as baseball bats that is all so satisfying

1:18 this scene is so good. When you can actually hear all the mechanical parts moving and working.

2:08 I love how quick their reaction is cuz they're not like, "OH MY GOD, THAT SPITS ACID" no, no, no, they went like, " *oh that spits acid, GIVE ME THAT* " lol

1:13 I love how Gipsy makes an effort to avoid stepping on that bridge, while at the same time completely crushing the street with every step she takes.
It's a great way of showing that collateral damage is unavoidable, but that the Jaegers atleast make an attempt to keep it as low as possible.

Unlike Uprising lmao

0:00 Every time this song plays, I can never resist the Smile on my face from creeping up.

1:15 I love that they included that line, "Choppers, do you have a visual, over?" It shows that the Jaeger is fighting as part of a team, a unit with supporting elements. I just wish they'd followed up on it with a few more lines, with the choppers responding and spreading out in a search pattern.

I love how Raleigh knows everything about Gipsy Danger, the short ways to activate a weapon with the IA, how he is so compatible with Mako (both like the samurai /martial arts style), how Raleigh is strong enough to control Gipsy alone while Mako prepares the freezing air and how Mako is so damn compatible with Raleigh that she put a new weapon they both likes: the sword.

Maybe this is one of the best movies to rewatch in HDR ;-)

I remember seeing this in IMAX - so memorable. Too bad their latest sequel ruined it.

It's insane how this movie aged so well. You could release this 12 years later and it will still be good af.

It should be a global crime that this did not even get nominated or VFX at the Oscars

The scene where Gypsy ran towards it actually surprised me seeing how quick and nimble something that big can be.

1:38 I always love this moment, idk why it just always gets me. I always appreciated how they took this movie pretty seriously for the most part but still knew when to have fun and put in a dumb joke like that.

There is just something so special about this movie.

It's not an original concept, it's campy, and it's downright cringe-edgy at sometimes.

But it just does everything it promises it will do so god damm well that these things are non-problems, if not straight up a positive part of what makes it special. It promises you a movie about giant robots fighting giant kaijus, an it delivers exactly that - it's basically a 1:1 bang for your buck. The sense of scale, the impact, the fights, the robot designs and the monster themselves are so perfectly tailored to fit the exact purpose of delivering the "Mecha V.S Kaiju" concept, that this movie goes beyond the sum of it's parts and just becomes a classic.

It never tries to be more than it is, but it shows mastery of the concept and pushes it as far as it can go, and ironically enough, that's what makes this movie *more* than it is. This film is special because it's unapologetically *it*.

It is a shame we never got a sequel, it would've been great, especially if they used the same design and cinematographic principles as the original and improved on it.
