I’ve been flying drones for years. What’s one of the FIRST things I learned ? NO hand launching OR catching. I blame the pilot too for letting his buddy do such a thing.

You can hand launch with no issues but ensure to have the drone higher than your head that's all. People are pathetic when they claim that they learned not to launch from hand, in fact they learned nothing despite years of using drones.

It works much better if you pinch from underneath. There are slots in the middle that fit your index finger and thumb.

In manual mode the Avata 2 arms at any angle, even while upside down. You can point the top of it to sort of dictate where the throttle will send it before you use the right stick for correction.
