The ambassador seems a little squirrely when he talks about Huawei and it security concerns. I hope Canada follows its true partners by banning the service (Huawei) coming out of China.

Anyone involved in software development knows that network equipment, which requires constant patches, can be compromised following a simple software update. Auditing the software once or twice is useless, you need a trusted partner. Can you trust a company that had two innocent Canadian citizens kidnapped by the Chinese government days after one of their execs was detained, and released those hostages the same day the exec was released by the US? If the Chinese government is willing to do that for Huawei, you can bet Huawei is willing to do a lot more for them. Canada would have to be stupid to rely on that equipment, and the only way they'll get us to take is by more intimidation. If China is willing to withhold a life-saving vaccine from Canadians during a pandemic as when they blocked CanSino vaccine without explanation, do you really think they won't block Huawei security patches that fix some vulnerabilities in their gear, as soon as Canada says something about Taiwan or Peng Shuai? And those would be just the security holes they would admit to, not the ones they don't tell anyone about except their PLA masters. We have to make sure we don't rely on China for anything critical, they've shown us why.
