making my FIRST cake for a client…. 😳😳

omg I wasn’t expecting this feedback! Clarifying that this isn’t my profession, it’s a fun side quest for me. I’m a content creator who has only been baking for a couple of months, and even this client was a friend of mine. I’m new to this and know that I have a tonnn of room I have to grow! For those of you that want me to quit, I haveee to inform you… that I’m not going to stop posting hot girl baking content if I suck! Nobody is perfect in the beginning, that’s the beauty of learning new things. I enjoy it and it’s a fun hobby for me. also I guarantee my hands are washed every 2 minutes. My hair and fit were only cute bc I was recording this for content. I did have my hair tied back for a lot of the process that y’all didn’t see ❤❤❤ in short, I understand your concerns and will continue to improve. I’m really new at this and the people I’m making cakes for know that 🩷

Great job on the cake, just remember to wrap flower stems before inserting them!

Something about the flowers from someone who has decorated cakes professionally for a couple years: wrap the stems in plastic wrap or aluminum foil before you put them in the cake- it helps prevent any contamination or leakage from the plants getting into the cake, keeps the plants more crisp because those oils will wilt them, and makes it more pleasant and cleaner to remove them when it's time to cut.

looks great for only being second cake! Just a little tip do the first layer of icing super thin (crumb coat) let chill in fridge for a bit and then do your second layer, that way the icing is opaque and you don't see the cake. Home made always tastes better.

it looks so good! just a little tip, you should NEVER insert real flowers directly into the cake (ik you said they’re fake flowers but in case you ever use real ones) wrap them in floral tape or saran wrap first. other than that great job 😊

This is beautiful, and I love that you’re taking time to read the comments not all people can handle constructive criticism. But always make sure to keep a claw clip handy. And if you’re using real flowers to wrap the stems in a food safe plastic wrap which is cheaper (make sure it’s tight around the stem) or there’s this green stuff that wraps around the stems to cover them called (florist tape) hope this helps other than that you’re doing a great job

Really good job for a second cake, I’ve been baking a here’s what I’d of done.. glove for the hand with a plaster on, hair up, crumb coat first, the flowers fake or real need to not be directly going into the cake, either wrap the ends with florists take really well and pop them in or wrap them and pop a straw where you want the flower.. pop the stem into the straw… please don’t get discouraged by the comments, you’ve done an amazing job!!! But the only way we learn is by sharing info xxx
