No. The pond is safe if you’re just living there. But if you leave, it’s a high trafficked area that you’re bound to run into a group of cannibals. The best safe places to go to are the fertile lands or the ship area. That’s about it.

I got The Forest from a friend so we could do multiplayer. I only play it with them (not my kind of game), but I remember finding out about how water kills any enemy immediately, because I was trying to lead the Fat Guy away from our base, and decided to bring him down to the ocean. I am so bad at combat I can’t even kill a basic cannibal, so tricking it into killing itself is my biggest accomplishment.

Yes. This base location is the safest, much like some of the outer islands surrounding the main island. Regardless of that, the worms can still reach you. I remember myself and a few friends made a house boat (we were bored and wanted to do something different) and were chased (still in the ocean) by the worms. We weren't safe.

It's also possible to build a wooden platform on the ocean. You can transport logs using raft :P

Actually fat mutants and worms can still destroy this base, so the truly safest place is the beginning of some caves. There is usually a safe place where no enemies can go into and you can get logs into the cave if the entrance isn't a rope crawl. But there is basically no need to look for a safe spot since you can kill almost anything with just spears.

Me and a buddy go straight to the main cannibal camp and wipe out whoever's there. We then immediately begin fortifying it with walls running between every building, and a catwalk on top of all the walls. Fortified even further with traps along every wall. If anyone tries to attack us while we're building, one of us gets into the fray while the other one keeps building as to not be set back too long. After a while, they just stop attacking in force lol

After 800+ days no deaths... i can wholeheartedly say... close...

Got to modern axe drop. At top of rope go forward till the water, make a left and go past the 4way intersection thru a little hole to a small section of cave. Build a bed, chair, fire and live forever... my no build playthru made me aware of how safe the caves actually are. I highly suggest a no build playthru... you will learn a lot about how enemies work.. you'll never feel threatened again and will be safe no matter where you decide to hang your jacket.

You’re safe till day 40 and the worm comes out and turns into its bird form and wipes out your base cause he doesn’t die in water

Actually there is an island off the coast a short distance. No enemies spawn there

I built my shelter on the base of a cliff in the fertile lands. Built walls around it, and even after 30 days in the game, have barely seen any enemies. I’m close to a pond for water, blueberry bushes, edible plants, plus lots of sticks and trees. One of the best places to build imo

I think the fertile land are the best as they have no enemy patrols in a large area, protected by a River, a large amount of resources on the other side and a large open space

Well I built my base on both the top and bottom of the cliff near that exact pond (I did build a base by that pond aswell just in case if things go south by my first base)

This isn't even cheesing the game realistically this is what any survivor would eventually do if they lived long enough to learn the weaknesses.
