What are the names of any other certificates ?
Hope you see this I have some more questions I grew up around the wrong crowd and I want to be on the other side of the fence and want to change my life around to be who I want to be not what my peers perceived of me..

Terrible advice. If you actually want to be a good cyber security professional, be patient and have a steady but consistent roadmap to get to where you want to go like for instance a specialized area within cyber security. Start with foundational stuff like a sec+ and build it up from there. Set up practice environments at home and make it a habit to practice each day at least 1 hour. In a year or two you can then say you have experience. If you are impatient and want to cut corners instead of taking the time to make it a habit to continously learn, then this is not the right field for you.

This is pretty inaccurate in my opinion.

certs don’t equate to experience.

Especially when you have 1000 applicants applying to SOC positions or “entry” level cyber security.

i know people in offsec with a lot of knowledge and no certificates ( of course they do have experience) and also people with certificates ( and no experience) and no knowledge during pentesting.
