Scales of Ecology Part 3: Ecosystems

preview_player
Показать описание
After examining organisms, populations, and communities, it's time to move on to the ecosystem. An ecosystem consists of all the organisms in an area, meaning the entire community, as well as all the abiotic factors that influence the community. So we are looking at energy flow, the recycling of nutrients, landscape, and weather. The three broad categories of ecosystem are freshwater, ocean water, and terrestrial, and within these categories there are specific types, like wetlands, lakes, and forests. Let's get a look at them now!

Ecology is already so easy in native language but it's nice to learn this subject in an unfamiliar language.

Hey Professor Dave! I've practically watched all of your debunking videos, and they are amazing. Concise, straight to the point and undeniably effective at destroying pseudoscience. I live in Hong Kong, and many of the older generation of people here still have outdated beliefs which were shaped by ancient Chinese culture. There are many people online including YouTubers, who target gullible people to watch their videos and buy their books, which are all pseudoscience. However, their audience don't realise it, as they use the usual tactics, including buzzwords, everyday "update" videos and misinterpreting science papers in order to fool their audience. I know that you will not have the time to unravel these frauds one by one, and you certainly don't know Cantonese, so could you please make a video containing some tips on how you do what you do: exposing these frauds? It would be incredible if you could share some of your methods to do research for pieces of important information online against them, and how you build up your arguments, as you're so very good at this. Thus, we may follow your footsteps and continue to clear up the misinformation online, in order to introduce real science to the public. Thank you for your hard work!

Please Prof. Dave since you're going to talk about climate can you include humidity since i believe you're the only one who can give us a good grasp of this concept among others. I am refering also to due point and relative humidity in that context :)

I mean this as a compliment - I'm very envious of you! Not only are you extremely knowledgeable, you are a musician as well! They say when you're envious of someone, it is a sign of what you need to improve upon within yourself, so I need to look into that. BTW, I think anyone who was your student was very fortunate to have you as their teacher. Do you post any of your music online, Professor?

Hi Dave, I have seen many of your "Debunking creationists" videos and I quite enjoy them. I have some muslim friends, who claim that islam actually is science and point out places inthe Quran that talks about male and female chromosones, distance between Earth and Sirius, and other things that supposedly is said or implied by the Quran that we had no knowledge of at the time it was written. They also use the argument that the inventor of algbra was muslim. I don't have the time and mental capacity to debate it and finding sources etc, so I was thinking of you could do a video basically "debunking" most of this. It is very popular on TikTok and youtube to portray islam as the father of science.
